Targon Batteries

It's been a while since I checked, but it shows that I am now losing two Targon Batteries per month. I had the same situation which was addressed on the form August 17, 2024 where I was losing one per game month. This was corrected on August 23, 2024.
I should only be using def targon missiles which are quite costly at 103 per month.
Andy can you have someone look into this please. I do not know how long this has been going on, not sure how many have been taken I'm sure it's quite high hundred + more than likely. I would like some added back as you did previously. It really does not matter to me how many, but something for good faith. Please try to correct the problem. I appreciate everything you guys do and I know you're addressing many issues.

A small fraction of a Targon Battery is used in maintenance.
It could also be an error.

you can check spending to see how much is used each month.
The real use of such batteries started with the last upgrade.
It was there before but was rounded to zero.

How many such batteries do you have?

1) I have 1145 Targon Bats
2) I have 6 factories that produce Targon batteries
3) Each factory is at 100% hiring 110% production
4) Each factory produces 61% of one battery per month
I use 103 Targon missiles per month

I do not know how long this has been going on, I just happened to notice it today. Whatever you can do is fine. If this is abnormal and you can fix it great. If you can add some back even better. If not let me know and I'll go on from there.

It was going on for less than one day.
the use of the Targon batteries for maintenance was in the code for a long time but at the end,
it was not booked to the country because the country did not have a database field to record it.

Now it has.

In the mean time, I reduced the use of Targon Batteries to 25% of what it was.

It will be implemented with the next update, within several days.

I will compensate you for the loss.
I will also discuss here if we need to keep it going.

these batteries are expensive to produce and expensive to maintain.

The question is, do we need to translate the maintenance cost into use of
Targon batteries or into something else.

It seems to be a lot worse than I thought. I just tracked one year of purchases of Targon batteries. I purchase 84 batteries per year for decades (game years) Even if I lose 2 bats per month I should not be decreasing my total, but I am. Recent Purchases

I can't tell you what is causing this, but my losses are in the trillions. I'm not even sure if you can accurately calculate the number lost. I'll leave it up to you to do what you feel is right. Please stop the bleeding.

@Andy,
Given we already have defence weapons maintenance products, shouldn't there be no weapons lost to maintenance? Seems like a very punishing mechanic that disregards the product.


@Rob,
Do you have enough Targon Missiles for the monthly ammo consumption? If I am not mistaken, weapons are destroyed if there isn't enough ammo to keep up with maintenance. Someone fact-check me on this.

We have eliminated the use of the batteries.
It was the only case where weapons were used in maintenance.

ammunition will remain in use as part of the maintenance and the cost of maintaining the army, as it shows on the income and cost page,
includes the cost of the ammunition.
This is how it works for many years.

The change will be implemented with the next upgrade.

you can tell me, after the upgrade, how many were used.

I have been producing Targon missiles and batteries since they were available. I was always surprised at how few batteries I had based on how long I've been building them. I don't see away of determining how many I should have. I know the number is quite high. Whatever you think is fair is fine with me. I really just want to see this corrected. I'm not asking for any financial compensation. I do appreciate your attention to this matter.

I will try find time to think about the numbers needed for a good defense.

I think that their range should give you some idea.
The data is in the weapons document.

In general, I think that the batteries should be placed at a distances a little shorter than their range, and just to be sure, a little closer.
Then of course, you need to decide how many missiles you want to have.

1) On October 11, 2024 I first noticed the problem. At this time I had 1145 Targon Batteries in stock.

2) As of today October 20, 2024 I have 1094 Targon Batteries in stock.

= 756 Targon Batteries purchased but not added to my inventory.
These purchases all are on the 3rd day of each game month. You can see this data under monthly purchases on my home page.

I assume you mean that these batteries are purchased on contracts from your corporations.

these Corporations are not producing for lack of Targon.

4) The 3rd day of each month for multiple decades has been purchasing 7 missile batteries per month. I'm short way more batteries than I'm asking for. Not looking for those to be replaced / added. I just would like to see everything working as it should.
