The ordering system works fine. We have no complaints outstanding.
If you have a problem, please explain, give a specific example, and always always tell us the name of the world and the country. otherwise, there is no way to find out if there is any problem at all.
All countries automatically order at best price if left to their own devices. What can happen is if an order is not filled after several months (which is hard to do given the world shortages), another order will be placed.
When you look at the trade page it might look like one order when in fact it's multiple orders (sometimes years in the case of electric cars) stacked on top of each other.
Even if you pay to play country ordering is still best price (or at least I've found no way to do anything different). I deal with it in two ways.
1. I use number of units rather than number of months. When you hit the trigger it's easy to spot as I've set a specific number of units to buy. It makes it easy to spot and they don't seem to stack up like regular orders. Maybe they will it's just that I never run completely out of something to trigger another order. (if something sits there long
The common market I have. I only use for short term purposes. I upgrade my companies. I just set market strat and set quality and rush when I see shortage, If I cant get it on rush build that company
I upgrade my corporations also. Feeding my population high quality items only raises the welfare index.
If I have to use more than 10% of a corporation's production, then I build another. If it's taking more than 20% they simply do without until something gets built, bought or traded.
Since most of my consumable corps are producing 110% the negative impact on the corp is usually minimal as they still sell close to 100% of normal production at max market.
I do have a few ammo corps that don't always sell which, that just gets direct traded to my countries.
I'm more than willing to deal with the negative impact of the common market for not having to rush to make the supply chain work.
