why do my corporations need an ever increasing amount of robotics?

because quality/efficiency upgrade, higher number will use more robotics and high tech maintenance service

As corporations purchase Quality and Effectivity upgrades, they use more Robotics, and Factory Maintenance (High Tech Services consumption does not increase as corporations upgrade). However, the benefit of the upgrades is far greater than the cost of increased Robotics, and Factory Maintenance, consumption. Fully upgraded corporations make far more profit than corporations that aren't upgraded.

This is why you need education and maintain ed priorities.. When you eff upgrade . It requires more professionals and less workers. Countries all over the world crash and have money issues cause the user don't change ed priorities or trade professionals. 170 is enough. 120 will stop the system from messing with it. Without it you get hordes of unemployed workers and high SSI. Also let CEOs in you can turn housewives and disabled into workers and a reason able tax rate. Just don't build some green demand product like agri. Without the the Ed the country slowly dies. Also a bunch of teach messages and some other havoc

When you eff upgrade you need more professionals but people dont maintain it. Aldo not upgrading company is bad also. Free market and upgrade. Only use contracts when the country can't get it. They need to be full hiring companies. upgrading a 5% company spend money. So auto hiring auto salaries is bad

This is true, you shouldn't auto hire you should be hands on.
