W3C - Simcountry Maintenance

In the coming period, there will be some increased maintenance on the Simcountry servers.

We have recently added two large servers to the Site.
we will start moving some of the worlds and the portal into these servers.
There will be some upgrades to the servers we are using now.
Two of the "older" servers will be stopped and removed from the site.

All this will be finished by the end of November.

The entire, reorganized and upgrade Simcountry site will move to a new server location on the first week of December.

we were happy with the current location but the site where we are now, will stop providing "colocation services" by December 31, 2025.

We are in fact forced to move.

The new site houses many servers in many locations and serves a very large number of corporations.
We are using this event to upgrade our servers, and increase our capacity.

Tiny Atlas will be the first world to move to a new server, followed by Fearless blue and White Giant.
We will then move the portal.

Messages on the forum will announce such actions.

In general, we will move worlds to a new server, starting at 1 AM PDT, when the number of players is the lowest and stop any disruption to the game within two or three hours. Most times, disruptions will be shorter.

Only one world will be stopped at a time.
All other worlds will remain active.

Only when the portal is moved, the entire site will have to stop.

We will announce in advance.

Thanks for keeping up posted, and using the situation to upgrade the servers.

Tiny Atlas was moved in the past 30 minutes.

We will shortly move White Giant to a new server.
This will make it impossible to play on WG.

All other worlds remain active.
we hope that the entire move will take less than one hour.

Unfortunately there were some disruptions on both the Tiny Atlas world and White Giant in the past two days.
Both are now running.

we expect this to take place around 1 AM PDT early on Thursday.

Now that TA is moved, can we get the rest of the space only items to trading? The economy is quite well developed and I've got stuff to meet market demand ready to go.

The market on Tiny Atlas is a separate issue and not related to the move.
The move to the new server did not change any changes to the way TA works except for making it much faster which was never a problem anyway.

we think that at some point TA should have a market but turning the market on now, will make it impossible to purchase anything.

supplying countries on TA became easier recently with easy delivery of products to all corporations at once.
clicking is largely diminished.

After moving White Giant to a new server, we will now proceed to move Fearless blue to that same server.
(These two worlds shared the older server before).

Fearless Blue will be STOPPED SHORTLY.

the move will be as fast as possible.

it involves copying 250 Gb between two servers and it takes some time.

We are sory for the disruption on FB.

The portal and all other worlds continue to function.

What will take the place of shuttle maintenance?

I have invested in it for my own use and am curious.

Andy, I'm not asking for trading to be turned on. I'm asking if the items like maintenance products and upgrades could be made tradeable so that corps can order them, or we can offer them on the market.

Get TA together so we can have ecars. Running ta would be a headache

There seems to be a problem with supply units not working now, could you have a look at that.

We are looking into further improvements to TA to make it easier to play.

After moving FB, WG and LU to new servers, we will now continue the process.

We will shortly move GR to a new server.
We will need to stop GR for less than one hour to execute the move.

We also intend to move the PORTAL to a new server.

This will stop the entire site!

The move of the portal will take place tomorrow, Saturday, in the morning.

It will start at 4 am EST (10 am MET), and we hope to complete the process within one hour.

In all these moves, there is a slight chance that the process is not progressing as expected.
in such cases, we will immediately stop the work and restart in the "Old" situation.

We completed the move of GR to the new server.

GR is now running on a much larger virtual server with 3 times more memory and more processors.


The move of the portal will take place tomorrow FRIDAY.

This will stop the entire site!

The portal was moved today to a new much larger server.

Simcountry was down for about 40 minutes.
we are sorry the site needed to be stopped but this move was needed.

The portal is among others, running the shuttle movements.
It requires a lot of computing power when many shuttles move around.

The Kebir Blue world is currently being moved to a new server.
We expect it to be completed withing 30 minutes.

Little Upsilon will be the last world to move.
we will try to do this tomorrow, Tuesday, at 4 am EST.

Moving to a new facility

The next big action will take place in the the first week of December.

The entire site, with all servers, will be moved to a new facility, as the one we are using now is being closed for a long time, for renovation.

That move, in the early days of December, will take several hours to complete.
we will then stop all the servers, unplug them and transport them to the new site. (40 minutes drive).
