This guide will focus on how to raid c3s using air force units. The steps given assume that the goal is to maximize the amount of cash obtained, gain some population, and then drop the country. This guide describes an ideal method of raiding until war level 6.

One quick thing about war levels. To maximize cash as you raid c3s I recommend:

- If you are war level 0, you have to raid a war level 1 c3.
- If you just made war level 1, raid a war level 2 c3. You can raid a war level 2 c3 5 times before advancing to war level 3.
- If you are war level 3+, always raid a c3 at your war level. Every 4 wars won will advance you to the next war level.

In this way, you can complete 18 wars (on each world) using the steps in this guide before advancing to war level 6.

1. Obtain the necessary weapons and ammo. I recommend the minimum of:

Purchase at 330 quality:
400 Fighter Planes
40,000 Fighter Missiles
600 Precision Bombers
80,000 Precision Bombs
500 Interceptors (You can wait until war level 4)
45,000 Interceptor Missiles (You can wait until war level 4)

Purchase at 120 quality:
100 Military Transport Planes
4 Special Forces Units
1000 Special Forces Missiles

2. Form the following units:

Unit 1 (300 Fighter Planes/100 Precision Bombers)
Unit 2 (400 Precision Bombers)
4 - Air Transport Units with 25 Military Transport Planes each
4 - Special Forces Units
4 - Defense Interceptor Units (You can wait until war level 4)

3. Declare War on a C3 that meets the following criteria:

- It is not adjacent to the country you are raiding with
- It is within 2000 range. Use measure distance or if country is within 4-5 countries of you, it is probably in range.
- It has the most state corporations possible. 15+ is ideal. The more, the better.

4. Give air drop orders to your special forces units to drop on the targeted country.

5. Use Unit 1 (300 fighters/100 bombers) to attack the DEFENSES of a county or town. You should lose bombers and in return be shooting down interceptors. Continue doing this until no defense interceptor wings respond to your attack.

6. Use Unit 1 (300 fighters/100 bombers) to attack the Interceptor Wings directly. Easiest way is to select these units from the target list (not the map). This will destroy the units.

7. Use Unit 2 (400 bombers) to attack the DEFENSES once, this should destroy all defending weapons, and then TARGET of all corporations. Again, using the target list is the easiest way and destroy all corporations.

8. Move the special forces units you dropped around the country. This will "paint" the country, occupying territory that will allow you to win. Check the War Index of the c3 and look to see you get all 25 occupation points. Also, after getting the occupation points, check the total War Index of the c3. If it is zero, or less, you can attack the defenses of a county/town with either Unit 1 or 2 , for no losses, and win the war at that point, and skip step 9.

9. Use Unit 2 (400 bombers) to attack the Defenses and then target of the capital and then cities until you reduce the war index to 0, and win the war.

10. Use the "return" command to call your special forces units back to your country.

11. Change to the country you just conquered. Turn the automation setting "Automatic building of new corporations" off.

12. In the country you conquered, go to "employment" and "exchange professionals" and transfer 200,000 workers of your choice back to your main country.

13. Wait one game month.

14. In the country you conquered, go to "employment" and "exchange professionals" and transfer 200,000 workers of your choice back to your main country.

15. In the country you conquered, sell products of your choice ("trade" -> "trade with countries and enterprises directly") back to your main country (you will effectively get these for free). Production plants are particularly valuable followed by usually well-stocked items like airplane fuel, gasoline, services, military services, and trucks.

16. Complete the transaction by switching to your main country and accepting the sales.

17. Transfer all cash out of the conquered country ("Direct Trade" -> "receive game money from countries and enterprises"). You can use the same area to transfer the cash to your main country ("send game money to countries and enterprises").

18. Drop the country ("Account and Membership" -> "Countries and Enterprises" -> "Cancel a Country")

I tested it. You get the coins. I tried to keep it simple, and complete, though when you are ready for your fourth war at war level 3 it might be better to dec a war level 4 country to get about double the cash. After that, the cash difference is negligible and you might as well keep decs to your war level.

I need to mention, as you go up in war level, you might need more than one Unit 1 or 2. That or, as you take losses, you need to disband and remake the unit to full strength periodically to retain its effectiveness.

I am trying this tonight. I have been buying the weapons over the past day or so. I already did the "win a war in 10 minutes" thing. I wish I had known this. I didn't get any of the money or workers out before I canceled the country.

Does it matter that I am already WL 1 since I won the war against a c3 once already? About how much money should I get from the country so I know that I have done it correctly?

This worked faster than you even said. I didn't need to paint anything. I even had corps left to destroy when I won. I also transferred almost 1T out and it was a level 1 plus almost 400k workers. Everything but teacher, nurses, doc, and LMH workers.

Level 1 is cake. The guide is to work up to war level 6 and teaches the strategy that will hold through those war levels.

You only get 6 total wars until you are advanced to war level 3. You should dec a war level 2 next to collect $500 billion more/war.

I figured tonight I would go through the level 1 decs and then start level 2 tomorrow. When transferring workers, it said I could do up to 400k within my empire. Does that mean my main country can transfer 400k to each country I win tonight or is that total for the month?

You should be sending workers back to your main country. The newer countries are limited at transferring 200k. Your main has the same limit in receiving from these countries so, I believe, it can only receive workers from 1 of the c3s/month.

With the second country tonight, it put me to WL2. I transferred out every worker but ML and LL workers. I also transferred out all of the money and basically purchased almost everything from it and transferred all of that out as well. I cancelled the country then.

Question on the weapons in the C3s. I figured I didn't want to buy them because they would be low quality, but should I sell them on the market and then transfer out everything out? I would need to keep the country for a while to do it but it may be worth it if the weapons are worth enough, especially at higher levels?
What is the lowest quality weapon I should accept to purchase for my country, generally speaking?

You can take the weapons. They are not worth much, at any war level, but the argument to take them is the ease of getting them. You don't need to sell them, you can simply transfer them with the "transfer goods" option.

Lowest quality weapon is an interesting question. I will leave some things for you to figure out but consider that the cost of using weapon upgrades to increase the quality is constant/weapon regardless of the value of that weapon.

One last question (I think) on this. I see that my country is automatically ordering replacement ammo as I am using it but it is not at 330 quality. I was going to set it order those products at 330 all the time, but I think I am going to set it buy a small amount of ammo every month (say 10,000) until I have a supply of a specific amount (say 100,000 for now). Am I looking at that correctly? If I click the units button (instead of months) and then put 100,000 in the first box and 10,000 in the second, it will auto order 10k per month until I have a supply of 100k and then will always maintain 100k. All of the orders will be 330Q.
Does that sound like a good idea so I can build a surplus without having to log in every month and buy ammo?

I don't currently use order strategy for ammo. Primarily because I look for deals and like to manually place my own orders for weapons and ammo. I think your explanation on how it works is close enough except I believe the maximum quality for auto-orders is 300.

I peaked at your current war. You are missing the "painting" step. You are expending much more ammo hitting additional cities, forts, and towns than you need to.

edit: In fact, check the log. Your last handful of attacks are expending ammo and doing damage to a country that will soon be yours but is not affecting the war index. Those last 10 points you need to paint for. The other 15 points you could have gained would have saved you quite an ammo bill.

Yeah I was waiting on the troops to arrive and thought they were taking a long time. I realized I "moved" them instead of "airdropped" them so I have corrected that.

I also just saw that I had it at 90 and nothing was changing it. Waiting on the airdrops to arrive to finish it off. I just thought it was taking longer because it is level 3.

Just station them in your country. They will respond to the c3 stealth bombers that will attempt to attack your fighters and precision bombers.

66. War Levels [ top ]

After fighting 4 wars against C3 countries at your current war level, your war level will auto increase.
Increasing war levels win you gold coins on all the five worlds but the number of gold coins is higher on the Fearless Blue world.

When starting a war against a C3 country, you can now choose between multiple options. You can start a war at a higher war level. Winning such a war will move you to the next war level.
You can start a war against a C3 country at the same war level you are. Such a war will win you the resources in the country and will move you to the next war level only after you win 4 such wars.

A new option, allows you to start a war against a C3 country at war level 3. The war may win you the country but there are no money rewards. The feature is added on request of some players for strategic reasons, trying to win a country closer to an area where they intend to fight a different war.

What about stationing an air defense garrison at the offensive military airports(s) in your country to beef up defense against the stealth bomber wings?

Similar. In opposition to going against a town or city's defenses in stage 1, how about going after the stealth bomber wing's defenses, and then against it directly, once the garrison is removed? Dropping them along with the interceptors. Wouldn't that hold down losses on the precision bomber meat shield?

You don't have to worry about stealths until higher levels. This guide is for WLs below that.
Quiet: There is no need to destroy a fort to win a C3 war. They take up a lot of ammo to destroy and not worth the cost.

Zentrino, I hit stealth bombers in war level 4 - 1 wing. At war level 5 now, and there are 2 stealth bomber wings per c3. Aries said "This guide describes an ideal method of raiding until war level 6."


So any advice on how better to deal with these is appreciated. I'm going with the interceptor wings,and air defense garrison in the FOB. I think the casualties are a tiny bit less going after the bomber wings directly, but not enough gathered data to confirm that yet. Bombers are expensive early on, and I'd like to keep down costs, so I can begin putting together more of an effective defense for federated countries.

If they truly are defensless, certain portions of it. You could skip attack a county until all interceptor wings are gone. Move right on to corps. The problem is whether they remain defenseless from the time you declare until the time the war actually starts. (it's not immediate as in a c3 war.)

The method of running them to a war index of O is going to revolve around that. Painting always helps. If there are defenses, you'll want FO's within 35 km of targets when you attack with air assets. (time etc permitting.)

And remember, if they are in a fEd, that's going to change things also. If someone is within range to defend, interceptors or helicopters etc will be engaging your troops. a 3 wing fed air umbrella is going to shred the troops this calls for. Use it as a platform, but not a schematic for learning how combat works, and how to take someone down.

No, on several counts. You can win up to 6 wars at war level 1-2 before advancing to war level 3. The weapons mentioned are a minimum number I would recommend before starting a given war. At higher war levels, you will likely find you need more weapons and might find making a few more units useful. The exact number of weapons you need will largely depend on quality and, of course, the war level of the C3. You want each attack you make to be from one of your units as close to full strength as possible. Ideally, you have just enough bombers to absorb your losses on each attack. You can experiment with more or less bombers for greater success.

The goal of the guide is to get used to using a sound strategy for Simcountry wars. The best lessons to learn are the basics of forming useful units, learning to use sacrificial weapons to minimize losses, and picking the order of targets to strike. It is likely at the lowest of the war levels, you will find the going easy, but it is important to not be complacent. Mistakes made at lower war levels are not very costly but imperfections in your technique are quite costly as you raise war level. The guide is written very carefully, for example, when talking about what targets to shoot at. It is very important to follow these directions to avoid unnecessary loss and understand the basics of war.

I tried your method by attacking a county first. All 300 Fighters & missiles were gone in the first attack. I don't know what was wrong. It was a c3 bordering.

They didn't, even after 2 months. I don't even think the climate there was particularly nice for R&R - lazy buggers!

I dismantled the units and reformed them. Strangely, I did this after dropping the country - my units were still shown as being in foreign territory.

My first war at level 4 has not started well.

I attacked the defences of a county with stealth bombers and they got wiped out before exhausting the C3's interceptors.

Build a unit, bomber unit, 300 fighters 100 bombers, and click a town to attack and choose to bomber unit. Then when on attack interface, click (attack target defense) and the bomber unit will attack, inwhich the defense interceptors respond, and will be destroyed, depending on number of wings will be iterations for attack.

ps: air transport units are like supply units they do as they please.

you can "order" 330 quality .. sometimes it works sometimes it changes to "any".

310 quality seems to be the best I can get reliably.

Well, I've just had 3 more units wiped out by enemy interceptors and still not eliminated their units.

Has anyone got any advice on what type of units to use, their composition, and what to target at in a C3 at war level 4?

That said, I can no longer afford to replenish my military so I might have to wait a bit to rebuild my finances.

If you follow the guide carefully, you will do fine. If you don't read it very closely, you will die, badly.

Hint #1: If I put a word in all CAPS, it is that way for a reason. Stop on that word. Seep it in and understand the reason it is in caps. Hastily move forward without is bad news man.

Before my reset I used this guide up to war lvl 5 with good results. I've found a different strategie for the higher war levels. But I can confirm that it is VERY important to read it to the letter. (Capsing is so 1999:P)

You need quite a lot of money to get this started but DON'T take lower quality goods. It's really important to have good quality troops.

also, why im forced to fight war level 2 immediately after the first war ?

from the game docs: When a player at war level 1 declares a war against a C3 country, she will have the choice to fight a C3 country of war level 1 or a C3 country at war level 2.

i didnt had any option to select war level 1, was only war level 2 or cancel. i only fought 1 war till now, the first one that got me from level 0 to level 1. this was the 2nd war.

Interceptors scale up faster than helicopters as you move up war levels. Optimal route is through missiles. Use offensive AA to break helicopters and then mid range Missiles to attack ground Defense and target.

Terra Povra (the attacked country,C3WL2) reports:

The country lost 25 missile interceptor batteries, 12 defensive missile batteries and 300 interceptors.
The country used 645 missile interceptors in the defense.
532 soldiers were killed and 1547 were wounded.
The defence was assisted by Defense Interceptor Wing Oildale and Garrison TG5779.
The attack added 0.04 damage points. The War Index is now 56.61

Letiland (the attacker,WL1) reports:

Fighters01 lost 120 precision bombers and 35 fighter planes.
Fighters01 lost trucks, gasoline and military supplies.
The attack may have been reduced or eliminated by Anti Missile Missiles.
755 soldiers were killed and 2165 were wounded.
The War Index remains 53.30

the enemy had 2 long range divisions, they are both gone after this attack

edit: nah they ar enot gonne, i cant trade 120 bombers for 300 interceptors, there are 6 wings

i guess the next run will kill 1 interceptor wing with much less losses ? will see after i can buy again from market lol

Vlad you need to clear air Defense first. That is why you lost so many bombers. See the interceptors responded and did lots of damage.

This guide is from 2015.

Even the devs of simcountry move at a speed that they change things. Having said that this guide worked fine for me up to wl 4 before i changed to a less expensive option.

As John said, you really really need to clear out the air defense first

The guide says atacking defence will clean up their interceptors. It cleans them up but at some attrocious trades.

Atacking a county in painted zone with a special forces next to it, no more ground defence left but still....

Who killed my OOAB? i had missile interceptorsin division but it seems they didnt were enough of them ?

The guide is right to tell you that the first step is to destroy the interceptor wings.
Interceptor wings are always trying to frustrate your attacks and limit their effect.

Once they are gone, things become easier but it does not mean trivial.

Destroying these wings has a high price.
your attack wings are suffering losses.
You must have enough of them, depending on the power of your enemy, to be able to destroy all of them.

You can check the weapons manual.
It has detailed information on the effect of any weapon on any other weapon.

You can find out which air wings you need to maximize the destruction of these interceptor wings.

You can exactly find out which weapons have most destructive effects on interceptors.

Hate to necro this, but I'm having a lot of trouble. Declared war on a C3, attacked a towns defenses with 280 qual bomber force and it got obliterated. Interceptors shot down all bombers and fighters with virtually nothing destroyed.

Edit: I think the quality of the ammo was dragging me down? Average qual was 270. Built another with 330 qual fighters/planes and mixed ammo and lost them all with very little destroyed. I'm going to rebuild and try to attack again, this time with the right ammo, but I'm pretty frustrated to say the least. This war might just bankrupt me at this rate.

Tried and failed

The country lost 14 anti aircraft missile batteries, 7 missile interceptor batteries and 93 interceptors.

Air Force Attack Wing 'Aries Air Attack Unit 1' lost 100 precision bombers and 300 fighter planes (quality was 220, it's what the game sold me with shortages) - completely wiped out with a ground unit in support as well :(

For a start, units are much larger today than they were when this was written. You have to proportionally adjust the weapon numbers to today's unit sizes. And with 220q you should expect nothing more. What WL were you fighting at?

You're right, wars *ARE* extremely expensive, even if you fight them right.

First, you should max out your unit sizes.

To successfully attack a C3 takes a few steps:

Use one of your Offensive Anti-Air Missile units to attack the "Defense" of a County in the Target Nation.
Do NOT attack the "Target" at this stage, you will lose much and destroy very little.
Repeat this until the Target Nation's air forces no longer respond.
Next, use one of your ground attack missile force to wipe out the now depleted opposing air units so they're not rebuilt.

Only once the "Defense" has been worn away can you attack the "Target" without unsustainable losses.

Send Special Forces units into the opposing nation to paint it orange/red and cause damage that way.

Repeat this process with the opposing Fortifications.
Repeat this process with any opposing corporations you don't want to keep.
Repeat this process with any Counties/Cities in the Target Nation until they surrender.
Finally, if all the above has been done and the war still isn't over, repeat this process on the Target Nation's Capital.

If you fight efficiently, and have a little luck, you'll likely burn 1-2T in munitions, and perhaps half that in material losses.
The Target Nation, if you want to keep it, will have taken between 2-4T in damage that needs to be repaired.

Attacking later C3's at higher War Levels will require more of everything.
More initial units, more munitions, and more spare equipment to replace losses, but you just follow the same pattern laid out above.

I do have questions / further explanations needed.

When you reference 'Offensive Anti-Air Missile unit' I don't see that listed in my list of land based units. Is it just a battalion or division with extra AAMB? Same with 'ground attack missile force'

A though before posting are you referring to the weapons in a division and just selecting those types for attack?

You note 1-2T in ammo and 1/2 that in material loss (weapons) I'm guessing I need to spend 3x that for the weapons to prepare for the attack?

I mean build a Long Range Division with a loadout similar to this:

missile interceptors 5,360
offensive aa batteries 1,660
offensive aa missiles 65,444

For a ground-strike missile division you can replace the Offensive AA Batteries with Midrange Missile Batteries if the target is close, like a neighbor, or 2-3 nations away.
If the target is farther away, you'll likely need Conventional Missile Batteries, which are MUCH more expensive and require far more soldiers.

Yes, you'll be spending at least 3-4T to buy the hardware and munitions since you want 330 quality for both the hardware and the ammunition.
A lot of the time the combat engine does a comparison between the fighting levels of the involved units, or their ammo quality.
Little advantages tend to rapidly become major differences in damage taken vs damage inflicted.

The above unit has some defensive units because at my War Level, the C3 has Stealth Bomber and other Counter-Attack units.
If I didn't have any defensive armaments, my assault units could get mauled before I even get a chance to use them.

Going to put together one of those units as soon as I have my High tech executive problem under control.

I already have the OAAMB and ammo (plus spares) and bits and pieces of the others as well. I have spent a couple of Trillion already mostly on ammo and OAAMB, I also have 5+ ready to go as I figured it would cost a lot.

A couple of things

My max of one type of unit for some reason was 1441
So I threw in some extra of the other batteries and put in 20 mid range

The max of one type of unit I could attack with was 900

I attacked the defenses and....

2381 soldiers were killed and 5981 were wounded.

Lost EVERYTHING I attacked with. The target had 120Q weapons and ammo

I can't even make another attack of 900 OAAMBs as there are only 510 left in the unit. Hell I only destroyed 206 helicopters.

Hi, you should not attack a LRD directly with mrmb/oaamb unless you killed enemy helis first.

Next time attack any town defenses firsr. You should kill a lot of helis like this

I did select a town, I attacked with a LRD.

I also waited for resupply and same result. And again but accidentally attacked the target. It destroyed the target buy killed 0 helicopters and again wiped out the LRD.

Waiting for orders to be fulfilled. I guess I could waste 8T instead of 4T

This guide still works but unit sizes changed since it was first written.

Essentially, you'll start with units weighted towards fighters first to clear air defenses. You ideally want just enough bombers to absorb losses. Try something like 400 fighters/370 bombers to clear interceptors and test. If you lose few bombers, you can add fighters to minimize losses. If you lose fighters you might need to add bombers to absorb more losses. You can remake your attacking unit after each attack, again, to minimize what you are losing.

After air defenses are cleared, you want to make a unit with max bombers to hit targets. 524 bombers I believe.

I just took my first C3 with my new account, and I'm in the mist of taking a second. Unfortunately, I plan on keeping these countries and I am breaking a rule in the guide that is costing me a bit.. If you attack an adjacent country with air, there is a malice to attacks if there isn't a land unit near your target. This is forgiven if you don't share a border.

This is actually an example of a pretty good attack, 300 defending interceptors were destroyed for the loss of 120 bombers and 35 fighter planes. You might be able to optimize the unit just slightly, add just a few more bombers, and you might end up losing something like 125-130 bombers and no fighters but, overall, this is an excellent result in an attack to clear air defenses.

To clear up a point of malice, if there is a ground unit to support there is no malice? If so what type and or composition of land unit do you suggest?

Note: Those suckers (land units) are hard to move in enemy territory!

That's just it as far as hitting adjacent with air units. It's totally impractical to move your land units around everything you expect to hit. Honestly, the specifics haven't been tested by anyone I'm aware of. We just didn't use air against countries that share borders, except I am doing it right now because I found rich investment funds..

Edit:

Some other observations.

Nearby garrisons and offensive units chip into defenses more than they used to it seems. Also, garrisons are present in more locations and larger than before. Need to account for this. Several hits on defenses may be needed.

Also, your starting country inventory should be adequate for your first war but starting at just war level 2, you need to have some spare weapons available, particularly bombers. Also, direct trade and shuttle rules have changed (something I may comment on separately at some point) making it quite difficult to replenish stocks mid-war, unless the world market is kind. I'd say around 4000 bombers is a good number to have available for a war level 2 war.

I don't like saying you're wrong Aries, but I'm at WL3/4 and I was able to knock over a C3 nation with 1500 bombers, losing half of them in the process.

I made a few mistakes which, if I'd caught them beforehand, would have limited losses a bit, but you don't need 4K bombers for WL2.

I didn't say 4000 to suggest you will go through that many or that a successful raid means you need that number. It's more that I wanted to think of a number that I would suggest a beginner have available before an attempt.

As I pointed out before providing the number, the margin for error is less, as you won't be able to get bailed out by a direct trade as easily as before, as those weapons will be inactive.

I'd balance the utility of having a few more bombers and not need them against the possibility of running into a few bumps while learning slightly higher. Combat changes have certainly increased the number since I originally offered the guide.

Okay, unless I am missing something. You can no longer raid a level 2 more than once. This means your 3rd war is against a level 3, and a win moves you to war level 3, opening you to the PvP game. Can't say I like this change.
