While searching for something else, I came upon a thread in which people said free members can't have more than 2 or 3 countries in their empire. But the thread is from 5 years ago. Is such a limit still in place? And if so, how much exactly is the limit?

There is and I'm pretty sure it's 2 countries, well at least it was months ago when I had a non premium account. Simcountry can be a very fun game with premium and I would encourage anyone who likes the game to buy it.

Ah, well. There goes any chance of me playing any further. I was hoping to set up a network of state corps supporting each other with contracts, but with the populations of just 2 countries to work with, it's going to be far too limited in scale to be worth the time investment.

I refuse to give money to the devs on principle, because of how they unfairly and unrealistically give major advantages to privately owned corporations and disadvantages to state owned ones. As soon as that's fixed, I'll reconsider.

It's 2 slaves. You can have a main, and 2 slaves max, with other limitations. Vercinger, you can choose how to play.

Statements like his are the reason free membership should not be an indefinite thing. 3 months seems more than enough time to decide if you like the game enough to pay to play and adequate time to find the tiny $3 per month it costs. I find too many statements like this. The free game should have limitations. Otherwise what incentive would anyone have to ever go premium. The devs need premium members to run this game.

Just an observation.

So based on what you said about the limit being 3 countries, not 2, I decided to give the game another chance. Only to find out just now that the limit is, in fact, 2 countries, not 2 slaves.

Oh, well. There goes a week of my life I'll never get back.

Ignore this one, I posted the message above a second time because it didn't seem to go through the first time, ended up with a double post.
