So, do you literally have purchase all your army's weapons and ammunition individually on the market?

1. Is there any way to automate this?

2. How do you know how much to buy? On the buy weapons and ammunition page, is the surplus/shortage numbers specific to your country or are these global numbers?

Yes you need to buy what you want yourself.

1 Once you have the basic units you can let your country auto buy the supplies needed to keep them going. Just change the settings on your trade page and automation page.

2 The surplus/shortage page is a global market number. Be aware that the demand for weapons can fluctuate enormously per game month.
