Navy

Hello everybody,

I am working on my countries and have recently started to expand my military. One of the things that I am curious about is how effective a navy is.
Are there people that have a navy? and if so what ships do you use and how effective is it? Is it worth it to even have a fleet?

Right now I am in the process of building up my army and I am interested to know if a navy is more effective then regular army units.

Navy is very powerful and also most expensive weapons to maintain. I would not recommend for a new player to build navies - their costs could lead you to bankruptcy.

I have a large navy on LU. It is parked off the coast of The Fountainhead. You can radar plane them to see their composition if you are curious. I agree with Mndz. While they are more effective on a unit per unit basis, they are not more cost effective than land or air based weapons. You pay a premium for power and flexibility with navy.

I want to thank both of you for your response. I took a look at the navy of John Galt and it looked really impressive. Maybe I'll be able to afford something like that but for now I'll take your advice to heart and build other units first.

A week ago I said that I would not build a navy but over the past week I have been thinking. I am a free player. That means that unlike paying members my population is capped at around 15/16 million. This means that I am far more limited in the amount of soldiers I can deploy. If I can deploy fewer men I want them to be as powerful as possible. Both of you told me that the navy is very powerful. Expensive but powerful. Because of that I have built 2 fleets and I am working on building more. Would you mind answering a few more questions for me?

I have parked both of my fleets in front of another country and now they are invisible. I can still order them around and they still cost money but they seem to have deployed some sort of 'stealth mode' Is this normal?
For countries you need interceptors and helicopters. Does the same aply for navies? Is it worth it to build carrier groups with them?
