I have tried SimCountry a few times many years ago, and back at it again. I have had a country in Little Upsilon for a few days, started off by selling all of my military products, and started building up education and new corporations that try to fulfill local market contracts first. My corporations are targeting 100% employment.

I am running into an issue with lack of low/medium level workers for new corporations. I have mainly been exchanging medical and education workers, and dipping into other professions when needed to meet the worker requirements for new corporations. I have noticed that low/medium unemployed worker count goes down overnight (several ingame months) even when I do not have a corporation being constructed.

My question is where are those unemployed workers going? I thought that my newer corps all buying auto upgrades would reduce my low/medium/high worker employment count and increase other educated roles like managers and engineers.

Hi!

What's your country, planet, and your education index?

Hi Eeeee OOOooo

The Empire of Mindress on the planet Little Upsilon, and my education index is 201. The indexes for elementary, high school, and university are 229, 205, 301.

Two thoughts:

1. You want your varying school types to have the same index. Your education index is reflected in the lowest of the three - so having 301 universities and 205 high schools will give you roughly a value of 205 for your education index. You're currently at 201 because the index lags a little behind (in terms of time) compared to the real value.

2. Your education index is very high. You may be overtraining workers out of low level qualifications and into higher classifications.

High education index is often good, but recent changes have made it feasible to play with much lower education indices. If you get to 120+ you can generally function well (this is ignoring goals about game levels etc).

You may need to keep changing workers regularly if you keep your index high.

I appreciate the tips on education, I'll start converting and reducing those for a lower education index. But for the question on why unemployment goes down, even when no new corporations are being built? Is it the death rate being greater than new employees?

So your low level workers are more or less "graduating" into a higher classification of workers.

Your age demographics could be playing a part in it as well.

If you're building a lot of schools, hospitals, or purchasing weapons (increasing your military size), those all require workers as well. That can contribute toward employing more of your population.

I've seen several large players before who kept most of their military deactivated. When they went to reactivate it, they didn't have enough low level workers (soldiers) and mid level managers (officers) for all their weapons, which created deactivations and major issues with their capabilities.

Worker management and understanding how all the systems interact with each other is a major part of learning how to best utilize your country or countries.

If you have further questions, the forum works great as does the simcountry discord (link in the left toolbar under "chat" section).

Many veteran players watch the chats and reply when they get time.

Best wishes
