For those interested in a federation on Golden Rainbow, consider joining GREF. There are many branches across most continents, and a private forum for getting assistance and information of all kinds.

For those who are starting out new, you can first join the GRCM common market, then apply later for GREF if you reach "Game Level 2".

Members are encouraged to join as "full" leaders (paid membership) in order to take full advantage of all assistance and opportunities, including military and space options.

The ideaology statement is:
"A federation based on sound economic principles, sharing information, and mutual defense."

Contact any country who is a current member, or send a message here via the communication system. You can click on the name link for that, or go to the 'Simcountry Cafe' live chat and ask for a GREF member.

I wish you good luck on GR. I gave my account away 1 to 2 years ago based on GR. I ran the largest multi-player federation in SC which was on GR and played for 8 - 9 years. I rejoined 2 days ago in a new account although my previous account is still played by someone. A couple of things got me interested again but I'll leave quickly if I'm messed about again.

I remember your federation's name from last playing. Allied Forces was the federation for me for 8 years. The big players were "smashed to bits" by the gamemaster, myself, several times over the years. Too big and powerful! I thought it livened the game. With hindsight, less war complexity was best. It gave a goal for the smaller empires.

I'm now on LU but I don't think I'll immerse myself in the game in the same way as before. Less buraucracy and more strategy is key to the game's survival.

GR was my home for many years until it was home no longer.

Hi Stuart,

Green Paws is me. I just used the name Green Paws when I first started again.

Much has changed, space is a big change! I'm slowly learning the changes.

The reason I came back was because they took the pop cap off, and the attacks on the vets and big powers seem to have stopped.

I remember almost going to war with you over Wendy DW. I went to GR from my home on LU and set up next door to Wendy on (i think...) CD.You didnt like it, especially when i declared it was open season if anyone decd on me and nukes would go flying lol.

A few rather heated mails and forum posts later and we reached a settlement. In hindsight though, i should have carried on and just gone with the original plan as i now believe it would have caused war between UC and AF making my job easier...well, you would have done my work for me lol

Crikey, that must be quite some time ago. I've negotiated for AF in many disputes over the years. I generally preferred diplomacy as opposed to war. I don't remember at the moment, but I think UC joined GR when the new war engine was introduced.

AF didn't modernise and adapt to the new war engine, and suffered large defeats at the hands of UC as we went to war anyway.

AF was so vast that it became unmanageable without intensive management. Previous members included Cyriac and Matt (before my time) and many members went off to form smaller feds and/or join UC or GREF.

AF was needed in the past to stand up to Matt but there seems no overwhelming need for a super-fed. Often too much work is required of tew few, and too many are pulling in too many directions.

All good fun and memories.

PS. I've setup AF on LU in honour of the history.
