Fighter planes: are they a waste of space? (Fearless Blue)

I have just lost over 1000 fighter planes using up 20000 air air missiles taking out c3 air defence. Navy fighters for sure next time!

Did you place a ground unit next to the target?

what did you attack with the fighters?

I have noticed that the losses are high with fighters if the target is near. Fighters prove to work best when the target is 2-3 countries away from the base. Also rememeber to set up with 1000 fp/ 1000 drones.

yeah drones get shot down before the fighters do and provide a cheap shield

From my experiences I seem to lose less fighters when attacking the defense wings if I use a whole 1000 to attack the first one and then 500 to attack the last one. On the occasions when I tried to be cheap and use just 200 or 300 per round of attacks it seems to eat up planes and ammo much more before the defense wing is destroyed.

Remember when you are using any air weapon on a bordering country that you MUST have an LRD near the target in order for the Fighter Planes, or Navy Fighter Planes to work properly. If you do not border the country this isn't required.

Does it have to be a LRD? Will other units work?

Other Landing or Ground units work.

Yes Barney, you were helpful to me too. New Lethal is better country because of you. I still haven't mastered the Barney-style warfare on FB. But I've been experimenting to improve my war tactics. Recently, Lasher knocked me to the ground, but I got back up after losing two slaves and fought back. Reading the forum posts and networking with skilled players is helpful.

I'm going to try navy fighter plane attacks with different types of landing and ground units soon.

In my short past, my 200-300 plane attacks have had heavier losses and done less damage on targets too.

BTW, I screwed up an attack today and lost about 800FP in one swipe. Ouch. Must be more careful.

Ground unit next to air defence 800 fighter versus 400 interceptors (200 in unit being attacked 200 in supporting unit) result fihters get slaughterd. Coclusion- fighter planes are indeed useless.

I just got slaughtered again....Do special forces support air attacks. The report said the attack recieved no ground support even though I had 2 special forces unit next to the air wings...

what does your air unit consist of and are you using all of your missiles every attack?

my last attack -1000 fighters all 23000 missiles selected 120 drones 20 bombers and 60 attack helis
1st round
I lost 247 fighters all others.
c3 lost 105 helicopters and 110 interceptors.
'The attack may have been reduced or eliminated by Anti Missile Missiles and the unit did not receive any ground support'. This bit I dont get, my units were flashing indicating they couldnt get any closer to the target....
2nd round
c3 lost 26 helicopters and 168 interceptors.
I lost 213 fighter
3rd round
c3 lost 82 helicopters and 103 interceptors.
I lost 92 fighter
4th round
c3 lost 177 helicopters and 19 interceptors.
I lost 5 fighters

I had 1300 fighters to start with so both rounds 1 and 2 were with 1000 attacking fighters.
