is the better war strategy in person-to-person (country-to-country) is to attack your opponent's country as well as defend your own country under attack?

or do you have to be a sitting duck just defending your country when someone declare war on you?

just seem like a good strategy, if you compare to the real world (earth), such as when the USA goes to war it usually win (military-wise) because the enemy does not attack the USA directly.

so if this concept counter attacking the enemy's country is allowed, then what's so dangerous about the enemy?

build up your offensive and defensive military forces to be top notch, then let the war begin.

so does anyone has clues to my 3 june 2012 post above?

somewhere i read that for every player, their first country is protected (secure mode) in each world? is this true? if so, then would be wise to have many countries and transfer all your valuable assets to the secure country?

please help out, trying very hard to learn and have fun in this game.

counter attacking the enemy's countries would be the logical tactic?

xlong - defence is only a delaying tactic. Eventually an enemy will get through your defence. Plus, you cannot win a war by defending your country. The only way to win a war is to reduce the opposing country to a WI of zero.

Therefore, the only way to win a war, and to keep your country, is to go on the offensive and take the enemy's attacking country(s).

The only exception to this is if your enemy is really bad at war and cannot reduce your country's WI to zero, and fails to fire a shot, for as long as it takes for the war to expire. That is very rare, and certainly does not apply where Psycho Honey is concerned. ROFL.

Read Wildeyes guide to the military ... it explains it all. I've bumped it for you - it's in the General forum.

Yes, every player has one secured country on every planet, although the option is there to drop secured mode. Why anyone would do that is beyond me, but occasionally someone does, and then they risk losing their entire presence on that planet. Most people keep their assets either in their secured main, or in their account, which is not linked to any country and cannot be touched. I hope that answers your questions.

thank you jo :)

so you can only take the attacking country, not the main country of the attacking empire (if it's an empire)? doesn't sound right if the attacking empire only using their conquered country to attack you, but their main country is in secure mode. or is that there are no secure mode for player vs player war, for both parties?

it's good to know that i can get a swiss bank account on simcountry so no one can touch my assets then....no link to any of my countries, but can be transfer to any of my country at will?

wildeyes must be playing the game for long time and most of you people? there should be a place you can go look up who's been in the game for how long and what they're good/bad at?

thanks again :)

A player can have a large empire, but only the specific country(s) that have declared war are involved in war. Any that aren't secured or in War Protection can be declared-on, but any that are secured or in WP are safe.

Your account is accessible via Direct Trading from the portal page (I'm not sure whether free players have access to this feature or not). Money and goods can be transferred freely between the main account and any CEOs or countries a player owns.

To see how long a player has been playing the game, you can call up their account details. It will say that they have been a member since XXX. However, unfortunately, that doesn't work for players who have left and then returned, or for players who have adopted a previous player's name.

As for areas of expertise, that's down to reading the forum and working out for yourself how much a player knows, based on the information that they post. Hence why players work to build reputations ...

@jo,
that must be one of the reasons for keeping each country unique in itself, instead of merging with other countries to become a bigger country?

it's kindda weird though, in our earth world. say when india was a country of the british empire, if india went to war with china, would british also be the enemy of china too? and if china wants to win the war, would china not attack britain to cut off supplies to india?

compare that to sc, britain would be in secure mode so china cannot attack britain?

these are some of the quarky issues with sc

Imagine if you would if there was no way to secure a country from attack. Some veterans would just keep an eye on your country for indications you were ripe to be taken. Playing this game for month's in real life, only to be interrupted by an urgent call of nature. You return and discover - all your work is now gone, and the property of someone else. Good practice - go to war with a computer controlled country - and time yourself. Get in down to a minute or two. New players can be hammered as easily, if not more so - with a decent military arm, you could take down 10 or so simultaneously.

Maybe not realistic, but certainly needful to keep players in the game.

Good luck and good hunting to both Xiong and Psycho Honey. The only thing as valuable as a good friend, is a good enemy.

@marshal,
that secure mode is good, but then what about the swiss account that you can put all your assets in?
this secure mode though defies real world?
with the swiss account, put all your assets in it so you can start a new country/empire should any fool declare war on you. that fool may get land, and population, but no other resources such as money, gold coins, weapons, etc

i just came to find that deactivate and reactive military resources takes forever.

Switzerland would be a hard nut to crack, due to it's location, the way it's population are trained, and the easy availability of weaponry. But not impossible. Same with it's bank accounts. Hard to get into, but if a major country started dedicating resources to that end....

Deactivating and reactivating weaponry. Kind of like putting them in mothballs or taking them out. Which is a lengthy process in real life.

Also a matter of game balance. Deactivated weapons require no crew or upkeep. You could have enough to completely arm every member of your country. When the time comes, close all corporations, schools, hospitals, etc. Convert all workers down to low level workers, and go on a massive rampage.

10% per game month isn't an unduly long time. There are other ways to keep them handy - but you bump into other limitations doing so.

i've been testing war with another c3, it has taken a few earth days now. i haven't yet won the war, and the c3 war index when below 10 in one day, then now it's much more than 10 again.

maybe the problems is i don't know how to use the weapons?

well, seems that i'm running out of ammos and weapons too. the resupplying of those troops also takes a long time too.

would have been nice, if the doc would advise that if you want to go to war, make sure you have "x" number of weapons each type, and "y" amount of ammos of each types, and "z" number of military units. if you don't have these, then don't bother going to war yet, it will just frustrate you.

You start with enough units to take down your first c3. Read wildeye's guide, and scarlett's post concerning war with c3's.
