Occupying C3 (Golden Rainbow)

I've basically raided a C3 into flat land. All cities, towns, counties, fortifications etc. have been completely destroyed. But I don't know why dropping special forces and occupation units do not automatically paint the territories. So the DP left is about 8. Why is this so?

Well, it was my first battle on Simcountry and I made the mistake of costing too much for a war level 1 C3 - I mainly relied on massive air force precision bombing; fighters were not very useful; I sent out some land forces as well. But at least there is some chance of winning. I don't want to retreat at the last stage.

You need to move the armies around to paint - dropping them in place won't do anything. Make sure to watch out for borders - the map and the actual shape of the country don't quite match, so you can sometimes get stuck on invisible borders. Select the unit, then click elsewhere on the map - it'll move in a straight line and paint en route.
