High Tech Services seem to be surging in the market without explanation. The demand is not showing much change recently, but the supply is steadily growing. The number of factories appear to have increased, but why would they if there is a market surplus? It's wrecking havoc on countries economies producing HT services. Can this be looked into? This does not seem normal.

It's normal business. Now and again you'll get a surge or lull in corp numbers, it can be from player actions or from the system. There wouldn't be much of a game if the surplus/deficit of products was more or less constant.

Every type of product will have a boom or a bust at some point, our job as Presidents and CEOs is to negotiate these difficulties in the best way.

Oil is one of the few products that doesn't have a boom and bust cycle, or if it does it is an extremely long one. Give it a try.

Regularly check the cash and debt in the corps. If they have low cash and high debt, then they are in danger of closing and you'll have to inject cash into them from your country. You can only do this with state and national corps though (i.e. ones you own 100%) .. any corps that have gone through an IPO will have to sell more shares to raise funds.

To avoid poor performance in the first place, you need to make sure that your corps are buying supplies at good prices and selling their products for good prices. Also watch to make sure that they have enough workers to fully staff them. If there is a worker shortage, you need to fix the country (change workers between groups, change education priorities, swap workers with others) so that you have the right staff to fill up the corporations.

Corporations can also close if they are consistently unprofitable over a long period of time, even if you have enough cash in the corporation. Just beware of that. It has happened to me a few times.

YES, well with due respect and appreciation for both of your knowledge and willingness to help, BS!

Really, thank you for advising me, but there was no sign of weakness in my failed corps. Maybe not getting the best bargain on inputs. But isn't that a bit gross? Over time I swear they weren't losers. Of course I can't autopsy because its all disappeared.

Andthe market for oiland HT for example is quite strong.

Can I just sell out in the short term and come back later with more patience with how this game works (or not)?

Again I appreciate that you both are no piker and have taken time to chime in. I am just frustrated with the game control and learning curves atm. Thanks

Did you get a message in your country's newspaper about the closures? When a corp closes down, the newspaper usually has something about it, with at least a hint of a reason. You might have to scroll back a few months to find the relevant entries after the event.

You didn't hijack, this is the conversation I wanted.

The steady increase in HT services was very unusual, and not typical of this product. I've been selling it for a very long time. Sometimes, a player will "dump" a few million units into the market, flooding it and making the price drop. It usually recovers because the output remained fairly consistent over time.

What I see now is that there is a very steady incline in supply. The demand is very stable, with the few exceptions where there was a big purchase, (by me).

What I see though, is that there are still HT services corps being built, then shutting down. It lead me to believe that someone is building them intentionally despite the market being in the green. Usually the market would correct itself and close HT service corps if there was a long term surplus, causing the price to drop.

However, if someone is experiencing HT service Corps closing, this is probably why....

My suggestion; diversify your productions.

"Diversify your productions."

+1

That is definitely one of the components of success!

I just looked into the market situation KB.

someone dumped 13B of HT services into the market several game months ago and changed the shortage into a surplus.
13B is 4 times the total month production.

however, the supply in the months before and after is lower than the demand so it is going back to a shortage unless someone will sell even more.

I did not look everywhere but you can check the market situation and also the graph on the utilization page showing products offered each month.

I'm looking at the graph, the supply is steadily increasing whereas the demand is not. This is for High Tech Services, btw..

I think that Andy is explaining actions that happened further back in the past than the graphs display Khome.

Also watch out when you're looking at the graphs to remember that they're not on the same scale, you need to look at the values as well as the trends.
