Would you consider an empire taking a c3 right on your boarder without so much as a "hello" an act of aggression?

Sure! that's an indirect aggression!

It depends who you're talking to and what your relationship is with the player you're approaching.

There are tons of variables involved. How big are the players relative to each other? Are either in federations? What is their history?

Generally, I advise making contact with as many players as possible - in particular if you plan on setting up shop on their doorstep.

I'd consider it a good time to invest in some military hardware. If it comes to nothing, you'll still be better prepared for the future.

Not a situation to get any pulses racing. Just two small empires, he's in the Freedom fed and I'm currently going it alone, no history between us and it's not his first rodeo nor mine so hopefully they'll be no itchy trigger fingers! I've taken two c3's around the country to prevent him from gaining any further strategic advantage on my doorstep and I'll be initiating a bit of an arms race as D advises and I'll try talking to him directly to gauge his sanity ;) I don't think there is much more I can do at this point. Thanks for weighing in guys, I know this is small potatoes to you superpowers.

I tried to open a dialogue with him and rather than talk to me he has responded by taking two more countries on my boarder. His name is Luciano, country name Molon Labe. Does anyone know him? He used to call his country Gable of Clark.

I'm increasing my defences. I tried reaching out to jeffcd1818 but he also is not replying. My fledgling empire is now surrounded by members of federation Freedom. I can only assume that as soon as my 52 day war protection ends I will be destroyed.

I am a member of freedom federation (as many of the others know). If your friendly with us were not usually openly hostile to active members, unless someone acts in agression against us... or if your falsely pinned as 'inactive', or if i fail to check if your inactive or not. Pat always responds to me when i send messages directly to his capital country Patville; I would suggest trying that.

As I stated in my last post jeffcd1818 has ignored my message just as Luciano has. I am not the aggressor. Luciano responded to my polite request for reassurance that his encroachment on my boarder was not an act of hostility by taking 5 more countries effectively surrounding my empire. Sorry KingWoel but the behaviour of your fedmates is belligerent and your allies gain nothing by bullying a noob for the gain of a few T$.

I have accepted President Zakalwes request for asylum. He will be temporarily under the protection of LDI until he can become more established. I made a promise to prevent large empires from ganking new players when FB restrictions were loosened. I will be honouring that.

This might be nothing but seems weird to me. Luciano (Molon Labe) cancelled 5 countries on my borders shortly after John Galt allowed me to join his protection program, no surprise there. Then nothing happened for a week or so, but today 2 of those countries where taken by 2 new accounts and suddenly 4 more countries close by have turned black as the GM has made them temporarily unavailable. What am I looking at here?

Countries become temporarily unavailable after they are de-registered.

They became unavailable for about a week then when they were available again 2 of them went to new accounts, 1 became unavailable and 3 different countries that aren't on my borders and were never taken by Luciano but close by also became unavailable.
