Hi Andy

Can cyber warfare be introduced - to trip up goods ordering or supplies or affect accuracy of adversaries troops? It will bring us closer to modern warfare. Thanks.

Any ideas??

Can you explain what you think it will positively add to the game? If you are yielding that this is indeed "Warfare", are you suggesting that one must be free of any type of war protection in order to engage in it, and so must your target?

It is my opinion that a valid suggestion must go a bit further than "please add this because it would be cool/more realistic".

I agree with Aries.
The ideas crossed our minds but what should this cyberwarfare do?

we have promised to improve more basic functions and are not done with these.

Please specify more.
if there is a suggestion that will make it very interesting and add a real new dimension to the war game, we will love to look into it.

Cyber warfare should be able to disrupt capabilities of the enemy and make some of their plans/action impossible.
I am not sure we have such capabilities that could be disrupted.

maybe we could divert enemy missiles to nowhere?
How will cyber weapons look like?

I asked him a bit in chat. It seems the Simcountry way of handling things, to me, would be akin to a disaster. Imagine "You have been hit by a cyber attack!" and your country suffering assorted issues and requiring relief supplies like IT teams, computers etc.

I don't see direct military effects being very realistic. I look at Ukraine, for example, and they are primarily using weapons very similar to what Russia uses, often originally conceived, designed, and built in the former Soviet Union. If it is possible to create any significant battlefield advantage with cyber, I can't imagine a more likely scenario, but I have seen little evidence of efficacy here.

Overall, I know how the player base feels about more disasters, and don't see a general desire for a new addition.

Some ideas about cyber warfare:

- Cyber warfare gives the possibility to disrupt. disrupt what? corporations? power stations and much more.
- to do so should not be too easy. It should cost a lot or otherwise we will have it everywhere all the time.
- Maybe we need some "units" that can go everywhere, through borders, not always visible? and can create "cyber" damage where they are, can be attacked and destroyed while at it, cost a lot.
- collect information we normally not have
- Maybe we need to know more about what a country is producing of some specific product versus what it consumes and if the balance is disturbed by some "Attack" there will be economic damage.
- candidates for cyber attacks: energy producing corporations, (so we will need to have some in each country), military bases, navies. such attacks could render them unusable for some time or until the "unit" is gone or destroyed.
- do you need to be war?

just some ideas to think about.

Cyber Warfare is just another form of espionage and sabotage. If Cyberware is to be introduced those elements should also be added so there are more options, and as you said it should be expensive as it is a whole operation. Espionage and intelligence gather can give up details on stockpiles, and also allow others to disrupt and destroy supplies ( a fire at a power station, an explosion at an ammo depot) etc. Cyberware in particular can help reduce quality of corporations , or divert some of the productivity to other places. Of course now you begin to introduce counter intelligence. And if you discover a nation is using this against you you can have reasons for war, and future attempts be less effective for a period of time.
