Seems very active involving the big players, I'm still new and wondering how often these major wars take place? I ask mainly because it's difficult to purchase weapons during this period

I wouldn't call them "often" but they do happen mostly out of boredom. What's going on in FB is really not big it's more of a slap and tickle contest. Probably because this one was caused by issues nobody really cares about.

Most of the "large players" are more than willing to coach someone active and willing to learn.

Find one and try to develop a dialog. In the interim, there is a wealth of information in the game documents. 90% of what you need to know is buried in them if you can just dig it out (a full-time job by itself).

You should expect to wait a week or more for some weapons systems. Very frustrating. I know all to well.
