White Giant is the only world now running 3 game months per day.
all others run 4 game months a day except for LU at 6 x per day.

We have now finished a major upgrade of our servers and WG is now completing the main simulation run within 3 hours. It used to be 5 - 6 hours.

we could increase its speed to 4 game months per day and we would like to do so.

are there any reasons no to?
please give us your opinion on this.

Increase the spin.

Make all worlds 6 spins a day.

Yeah LU is the most popular and populated. I think there is the vote right there. Maybe KB or GR or both should move to 6. People like this speed. It shows progress. For those who don't have much time to devote, at least one or 2 slower 4 months worlds should remain.

I vote up!

Tom, please see my full response to the question on the General forum and keep WG at its current speed, so that players have a choice. Those of us with less time to play prefer the option of a slower world.

3 is too slow. 4 is fine. If people have a shortage of time, they could just simply do less in the game.

"Doing less" has a negative effect on some things that some players play for. Like keeping workers balanced so that corps are fully staffed. Not taking the time to keep an eye on employment is the quickest way to lose score, levels, indexes, corps, profit ... and employment is just one example.

You're looking at it the wrong way round Navamin. If players have too much time, they already have several options, such as going to faster worlds, or playing on more than one. WG is the only option for those who don't have enough time.

By all means, increase the speed of GR or KB to 6 months, if that's what people want, but leave one of them at 4 and WG at 3 to give the players a choice.

Hugs and respect

I'm in agreement with Jo. WG has always been slow, but some of us players like the slow paced setting for reasons that Jo pointed out earlier. Not all of us, those with full time jobs, families and real life responsibilities have 24/7 to attend to the game and our empires.

Choice is the key word here. I think each world should offer different choices to appeal to how each type player wishes to play their game.

My advice, and respectfully given, to the game and its creators, slow down please with all the changes. You are hitting all of us with too much at once. Historically, people are not happy with 'big' change. From my experiences, when you try to forge ahead like a bull and try to change too much all at once, it is designed for failure.

Food for thought.

In short, I support WG at least being left as it is.

All my best,
Lorelei

Faster, faster, faster! Really though I do see where the nay sayers to this are coming from its just I am mainly on WG, have lots of time, so lets get WG up to 6 game months a day!

For those of us who have "real life responsibilities"...it gives us another time period to log in and use the new budgets, new worker exchange allowances, and gives us one more IPO window to utilize. Even if the IPO window is slightly smaller, it only takes a few minutes to do several IPO's.

The argument that "Those of us with less time to play prefer the option of a slower world" doesn't make sense to me. If I have one more time period to log in per day, with fresh settings, doesn't that give me the best "option" for my time?? It gives me one more chance per day to fit into my free time per day.

Increasing the speed to 4 months per day gives us one more time per day to move workers around. I don't see how this negatively affects employment...it actually makes it better.

Another advantage is for buying military. If I use a booster for military spendings and max buy weapons and ammo for a month, my budget is wrecked for a few game months. Bumping to 4 game months will help speed this along a bit.

Also, if you are an econ player on WG, there is no reason you would not want this increase in speed. Lets see...if my country makes 100B profit per game month, then currently it makes 300B per real day. Bump it to 4 and presto, 400B per real day. 100 extra billion in your pocket.

Wake this planet up and get it out of its current retirement home status. I have heard many players call WG "The Dead World" just because of its snail pace.

If options are what you are looking for, bumping to 4 gives you just that, one more option per real day. Staying at 3, when 4 is possible seems rather silly.

Bumping to 4 is a GREAT idea Tom. I hope you can make this change very soon, as it only makes sense to do so.

You know, i listened, and i'm still torn

when i first started playing SC, only LU was faster than 3. 3 has a flavor, a nostalgia, if you will. thats the only thing i'm holding onto i guess, that and and you can clear strat bases for 8 hours at a time, if you know how.

the point about fixing pop bubbles... well, with 4 gm a day, you'll fix them faster. Or GOD FORBID, you might LEARN TO HOW TO C3 RAID FOR WORKERS. Jeese, a vet complaining about worker shortages, and doesn't know the easiest way to solve the problem. common

and about IPO's... umm, it takes me 20ish minutes to complete a set of maybe a dozen corps, i have few problems on LU, i don't for see many problems on WG from speed up

shrug, but still, the 3 gm flavor... if people are still paying to play on the world, i don't see a problem.

My 2 cents...
If your gonna increase any world, increase FB to 6 along with LU.
Both econ and war players benefit.
Increasing WG to 4 along with GR would suffice.

Since some people are missing the point, I'll try to be clearer.

Making a profit or buying military are not the only goals. For those who play for scores and levels, the skill lies in achieving an optimum balance. While they aren't logged in, the game moves without them and they can't make another change until they have the time to log in again. If they can't log in for a few days and the game has moved on twelve or eighteen months instead of nine then their empires and enterprises will have become more unbalanced. Here's an illustration:

Theoretically, say I am aiming for a GC award and the next level. I suffer a HTE population bubble, or maybe the GMs adjust corp worker balances, and I suddenly get very low on HTEs. My corps become understaffed, I begin to lose money, my FI and Employment index drop, I am heading down a level instead of up, my score is dropping and I might not get an award this month. What do I do? I immediately raise my HTE education priority to compensate. But I have to be quite drastic about it because I am losing HTEs fast.

Unfortunately, RL gets hectic and I'm not able to log in again for 3 days. If the world is moving at 3 months per day, by the time I log back in again my HTEs have just about recovered, but I am now losing medical staff because I sacrificed that education priority to graduate more HTEs. No matter, I can now drop the HTE priority back down again, bring medical staff back to the norm and they will recover. Bingo! I have resolved the difficulty and am back on track.

But if the world moves at 4 or 6 months per day, by the time I log back in again I have a surplus of HTEs and have lost 10 hospitals. Now I have the reverse problem and, if I can't log in again for another few days, it spirals on.

Of course, the optimum would be to log in 3 (or, as some would have it, 4 or 6) times a day, check the progress and adjust by smaller increments. But some players can't do that.

Education priorities are only one example, of course, but a good one for illustration.

And, Josias, if you are referring to me: Firstly, I am not complaining about worker shortages. I am able to manage them very well while the world revolves at three months per day, despite keeping employment above 94%, which is what I need to get to the next level. However, it leaves very little room to deal with sudden imbalances and, if I had the time to regularly raid C3s, I would also have the time to maintain my empire on a faster-spinning world.

Secondly, my point was not about the length of time it takes to IPO. A set of IPOs from a single country takes around a minute and a half. It's the IPO window that's the crucial thing - around 5 mins on GR and around 30 mins on WG. I don't have the time to watch the clock to catch that 5 mins, but I usually manage to hit it on WG.

The main argument doesn't change, however. Those who want a faster world already have a wide choice. Those of us who want a slower world only have WG and, if it is speeded up we will have no choice at all.

Hugs and respect

Jo

I say speed it up, again. WG should at the least be at 4gm per day, or you could speed it up to the full 6 most people want and everyone can "Get a feel for it" and if it totally messes up alot of people then it would be public opinion to change it back, at least give the 6gm a try, who knows, you might like it alot better. :)

"As of today, the White Giant world is running at the pace of 4 game months per day. This puts WG at the same pace with all the other worlds except for Little Upsilon which runs 6 game months each day. Most players responded positively to the proposal and a recent vote even asked for all the worlds to run even faster.

Awesome news!!
Thank you

I have very limited time to play this game. I elected to play on WG due to the slower pace of the game format and have been mainly playing for score. I have never tried to play on any other world. The economics of the game interests me the most.

I did not voice my opinion earlier because I did not believe that you would really make this change. I am actually SHOCKED that you would make this change.

Three turn per 24 hours made total sense to me. It gives anyone around the world two periods to log in, check their game status, and make changes. The other period they would be asleep. The player can pick if they want to check their status in the morning or evening.

Changing the time format to match the other worlds just makes more of the same. You have lost some of your differentiation between the worlds. Why not just eliminate all the worlds but one and make it really big (many countries).

Let’s see 8 players said yes and 2 said no on the forum. Increasing the spin in the public voting got a 28 to 12 vote for increasing the speed to 6. How many players are on WG? Let’s see 4785 president (players) are showing on WG. Total all of the people that responded to your forum post plus the number of players that voted to increase the spin that would be 36 players.

Only 0.75% responded to your question wanting to increase the speed on WG. That leaves 98.96% of the players did not respond either way. This is not enough information to make a decision to change the game.

I do like the way you ask your players their opinions about game play as well as have an area that players can post ideas that can be polled. My recommendation is to use a survey tool such as Survey Monkey, www.surveymonkey.com. I have used this tool with $650,000 revenue generating Service Company and had great success. It helped me increase our top line revenue by 20%.

Finally I agree with Jo Salkilld statements. This player explained it quite well why a slower pace is totally acceptable.

4 months per day = more options for the players. More IPO windows. More chances to make worker exchanges...more more more. Your arguments don't hold water.

James Madison....did you get a written permission slip from the WGC leadership to post on this forum? You might be getting an eviction notice if not. By the way, it wasn't that long ago that you had countries that were active in "The Last Month". If one extra log in per day affects you soooo much, what about not logging in to them for over a week?? Especially considering they are war level 1 and can't be attacked.

Thank you GM's for making this great change. It makes perfect sense.

I agree with EC's comments. It is all about more options for players. If a player wants to play on a world with 4 turns they have that choice. Players have lost the choice to play on a world with only 3 turns.

I believe that more options are better and that this is the essense of this game.

Well....I thought the point was pretty clear...maybe if you, as a huge fed would have opened your mouths instead of living in your own protective bubble...maybe the GM's would have known your opinion.

Warning to the GM's....I'm sure you are about to get spammed with MANY well written, politically correct emails from all the WGC countries concerning this travesty.

James, you as an econ only player, will benefit from this change....oh, wait....I forgot...you have to be a GOOD econ player. You are right...this is bad for you.

Go back to your bubble....you might catch a cold. I can see the scolding you are getting right now...shame on you James. You might drag the stench of all us non WGC members back to your comfortable abode and infect you and all your friends with a horrible virus.

EC maybe you should stick with the question. I see that you have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and have a hard time doing this. I will continue to hold your hand and help you focus on the point. If you read the question carefully you were asked by the GMs to give any reasons not to speed up WG to 4 game months per day.

What makes you think you have any creditability with the GMs? Do you think the GMs see your verbal bullying as positive actions adding to the game? You have no insight on what the WGC members are going to do or say. You are clueless. Why bother trying to make us look bad. It is only makes a poor reflection on yourself.

You may want to consider finding a bubble yourself once in a while. Others will appreciate it including myself. It will give them a chance to just blow you away when you are not wanted around anymore.

You can have the last word if you like. I will not be posting on this issue anymore.
