Cost of Military Rising

In less than a year my military spending has increased over a billion dollars but I haven't purchased a single weapon. Spending began rising in July of 3228 and has not stopped since. Any one else? Any ideas?

Are you sure that there are no weapons or ammo being bought? Perhaps military costs are rising. I haven't followed closely enough.

Ammo, yes. Weapons, no. Does ammo stock increase monthly spending?

it still gets calculated for what is used to maintain weapons. upgrades can also have an effect. newly created units might be still assembling and cost will rise for a period and level out, sometimes lower over time.
buying ammo raises the cost as well as gas, trucks, and supplies. so if the army is operating then you might see an increase as well over a period of time. resupply uses those items.

the GM did put in effect weapon vs ammo Q. so if your weapons are Q300 and Ammo is Q150 then you will you use more ammo to maintain the weapons. the closer to even they are the better. same in revers 300Q weapons 330 ammo, you will use less ammo to maintain the weapons. so if your weapons are HQ and the ammo lower quality you can be spending more money in ammo. If operating HQ, then check the country trade and order screen and make sure it buys the quality you need.

also, if you raised gov sals, that would increase the pay, and upkeep, of soldiers and officers.

if you had a large stock pile of low q military services, and such, that ran out, and your country resupplied with a higher q, that would raise the military cost. but man, drys is onto of it

i'm not sure if the GM have or have not made the weapons/ammo q usage adjustment yet. but something i do, i'll buy a handful of low q weapons, tuck them in a space station, away from the other weapons, so their q doesn't mix and average. then i'll set up my regular units, pull out the low q weapon, set them up, and only upgrade the ammo. the low q number in the base inventory, (when you click on "view o or d") is what the ammo usage is based off of, not the actual weapon q. so in one country, i have 12 mobile stealth, upgrading to max, and 5 regular stealth ~170Q, just upgrading the ammo, with the ammo. with my LGB at

Thanks for the responses. They have really made me realize that I have no idea what I'm doing and I should spend a lot more time reading the documentation and paying more attention to what goes on in my country

Orbiter that is one way to keep HQ ammo. You supply fleets and units also dilute that quality 1 time before it resupplies as well. Good idea on the gov sal. it would make a huge dent in my countries if i lowered or raised it. that's another good answer.
