There is a Bolgaria in Russia. Or he could be using an archaic spelling of the country in the Balkans. Names can be misleadingly anglicized. For example, in Arabic there is no country named Syria. In Italian there is no city named Florence.

Strangely, Albonia makes me hungry.

There is a Bolgaria in Russia and it so happens that the people living in it have a common origin with the modern day people of Bulgaria. I just named it that because the game wouldn't allow a Bulgaria and because it is in fact an old form of the same name as there was once a city called Bolgar in modern day Russia.

As to the workers, I am currently getting the newbie population boosts so I should have enough for more corporations soon

I got to know Bulgaria while playing as the Holy Roman Emperor in a historical simulation game. Bulgaria was tossed around among Serbia, Macedonia, and Ottomans, not unlike its real life history. When I played as ancient Dacia, Bulgaria was nearby and had its ancient name of Thrace.

That country has had a bunch of occupiers. I wish better luck to The Republic of Bolgaria.
