How does one go about bidding on corporations? (White Giant)

I'm now looking into this a little bit. How does it work? I have yet to find info about it on the site, but that doesn't mean much as I'm not that web savvy.

I would say don't is probly the best answer to that question.

Bidding on a players corporations is a sure way to find Sim-Death knocking on your door. He doesn't take I.O.U.'s either. If your heart is set on acquiring established corps, then I suggest you follow these guidelines that will effectively keep the angel of death away:

1. If the corp belongs to another player (CEO or Country), always ask first. When in doubt, ask.
2. If you can't find players willing to sell you corps, then buy corps from "Gamemaster Corporations". It is a CEO controlled by W3C. Their corporations are always for sale and hold no danger of reprisal. (Yet most have a little debt that you will need to pay off when you acquire them)
3. If Gamemaster Corps do not suit you, post a thread on the relevant world's forum that you are interested in buying some state owned corporations from players. You will be amazed how many players will give you offers to invest in their countries. Just post

most of WPU, absoluty loves CEO investments of any type, as all of the leadership just asked you to bid on our corps

bigT mentioned it breifly, you click on the corp you want, and click where it says, "place bid," its toward the top, under the first white box,

the thing to remember, that has already been said, is that you are forcibly taking some one else's asset, even though you are paying them for it, it still is stealing if you don't have permission

their are allot of players that are dying to sell their corps, i'm one. stick to bidding from those people, and their wont be any problems

OK, this helps. I've heard about this thing where you don't need to bid on other players corps without their permission.

It seems strange though. Does the game automatically sell the corp simply because a bid was made. I would think it would involve some sort of negotiation first....like making trades in Fantasy Baseball or something ;)

What I was really interested in though is how to make the trade possible within an empire. I have a couple of corps in one country that I might like to move to another in the future and I was under the impression that bidding was the only real way to do it. What are the game features that allow me to big...again, not terribly tech savvy.

Matt, once you bid on a corp owned by another player, you have only a short time in which to retract the bid, otherwise it will go through ... whether the original owner wants it to or not.

No negotiation, no option to refuse to sell. The only thing that will prevent you getting that corp is if someone else overbids you. That is why bidding without permission is considered hostile.

If you want to move state corps from one country to another, your CEO needs to buy the corp in one country and then move it to the other, which then needs to nationalise it after the move.

You can certainly bid on corps in all the countries whose presidents have given their permission above, but I suggest you don't move them out of their host countries without asking first. Losing several corps from your country can really screw up your economy ...
