Greetings, Jim of Golden Rainbow and welcome to the game. What Jack Frost of Little Upsilon did not mention is that Golden Rainbow is from time to time thrown into destructive wars. You may want to study up on the defensive part of the war game especially if you plan to gain vast wealth and huge amounts of assets. I would strongly recommand that you look at the list of federation on Golden Rainbow to see which ones have branches close to you. You can do this by selecting federations > View other federations > leave the field box blank where it says Query existing Federations Name contains: > select the button that says show federations.

Then contact several of the leaders and ask some pointed questions. Like what about backup?
Do you have a charter?
Will you help defend me in time of war?
How much do I have to help defend other fed members in time of war?
What is your governoring style ie is it a confederation? Is it a dictatorship? Can I have an equal vote?
What are the requirments of membership?
Will you gruard my assest if I have to go inactive for real life issues?
Finally, Jim of Golden Rainbow the memebers of the United Confederation would be gald to consider your application. You can contact either The Grand Poobah at United Republic of Mitolla or myself Nute Gunray at UNITED STAR TRADE FEDERATION to request an application.

Nute,

Very well put and informative for all.

I think this something that everyone should consider before joining any fed.

Thanks for the Strong endorsement Jack Frost and the great pointed questions Nute Gunray!

I would be happy to answer queries concerning our Fed and I would also like to add a few to the list.

How will you help my country grow economically?
What support system / mentorship do you have in place for help running my countries and corporations?
Perhaps a much less pointed question...but rate on a scale of 1-10 the fun factor of your Fed?

Thanks...and I hope you enjoy your stay on Golden Rainbow.

I appreciate all the helpful comments to this post.

I've found a great home at GREF Eridana. I asked most of the suggested questions and got the answers I was looking for.

Is a fed a good idea? Yes, essential! Does a good fed help? The best ones definitely do.

Thanks to all.
