I first joined Golden Rainbow in February 2006, a friend introduced me to the game. He was a member of Allied Forces so I swiftly joined Allied Forces. David Walker was the chairman and John L the deputy. The federation was growing quickly and was the largest federation in Golden Rainbow, although this was true we weren't the most powerful on Golden Rainbow. There was a super power single player who was by far the most powerful by military might; his name was Matt!

There was often high tension between Matt and Allied forces but with David's diplomatic efforts we managed to avoid a war. Allied Forces grew in strength and numbers increased and Matt's game play and power diminished!

All went well into 2007 but by the spring of 2007 we had intelligence of an off world invasion! United Confederation Federation was born on Golden Rainbow from this invasion and they were soon to declare on Allied Forces.

Not long after the war there was a coup against David Walker and John L put Ameche forward to be the next leader of Allied Forces although David was still controlling the direction of his leadership.

Power became more balanced between the federations after the war came to an end and we had over 100 game years of peace on Golden Rainbow.

There would be another war by the spring of 2008 with United Confederation and a defection and the decline of Allied Forces.

Allied Forces was a force to be reckoned with at the start of 2008 and still equal in power to United Confederation. This was short lived of course. The war started off well but with difficulties at the top becoming public and even personal and the war dragging on for real months Allied Forces suffered terrible military and economic losses.

By early 2009 Allied Forces faded into history and United Confederation became the number one federation which has also declined to a relic of its former days!

Can anyone else remember their stories of Golden Rainbow's colourful past? Is there anyone here from the beginning i.e. 2001?

I miss Yankee. And David.

I miss a lot of people.

What I don't miss is the spectacle people put up from time to time. I have no interest in rejoicing and laughing at the misery or frustration of others.

Look what I dug up from the past. Two official War Declarations. (My favorite part of these is seeing my development as a writer).

AF War Declaration

Quote:

We, the United Confederation have officially declared war on Zypher a.k.a. Zip a.k.a. Mysterious_Shadows a.k.a. []D.[].[]Y[].[]D.[].[]\[].
Some of you may be wondering why.

This is a longer story and has many smaller details that cannot be ignored. We have had good relations with Allied Forces for many RL months, but not so long ago several situations softened the strong grip of peace. Daconia, a new AF player, wanted to raid a small country belonging to Dizzy, who is inactive. We said no, but the zeal of her persistence caused us to eventually allow it. We wondered why our simple request was ignored. Alone this was only a small issue. We also began to notice small lies and inconsistancies in official communications... I cannot recall exactly what they were as they were so small so as to not attract immediate attention. On several occasions my stance was misrepresented, I was quoted as saying things to people I do not talk to, doing things I was unable to do. The merger proposed by AF contained half-truths. The official communications regarding the Dirtrocker situation contained many falsehoods and misrepresentations. See I post all messages I recieve regarding interfederation relations on the UC forums, so our chairman and membership can evaluate each position so we all know what is going on, that is how I noticed these. Alone this can be chalked up to propaganda and were no cause for alarm or action. We decided to watch AF more closely.
However, Zypher talked to me one day in chat. He claimed that he was being targeted by AF for leaving. I listened, and apparently, Diz had 'warned' him about def and AF. I told him to update me and that I will see what I can do.

Now, this conversation piqued some interest in me.
1. Why was AF threatening to attack a member for simply leaving?
2. How did he talk to Diz?

Now, I decided to post on the UC forums the chat log. After discussion, we found out that indeed Diz had not 'warned' Zypher of anything. Over the course of the next few days no action by Allied Forces took place against Zypher. I decided to allow Zypher into our Lynx Minor Branch until everything was sorted out. No communications by AF, no questions, no demands, no nothing. AF just let Zypher join the UC. Our mutual suspicions mounted. Then we recieve intelligence that Zypher is a spy. Our suspicions lending credence to this new information. I advised that we adopt a wait and see attitude. Well, we waited and saw. I cannot say what transpired in a conversation between Austia and Zypher as I was not there, but I can say this: Zypher decided to leave the UC and re-join AF. Austia told me that Zypher said something along the lines of 'I got what I need.' before he left. The span of time between Zypher's departure from the UC and arrival in AF amounted to a day or so, but in between that time I noticed an innocent remark by Defcon on the SC general forum stating that Zypher (Zip in this case) was in AF. These also lent credence to our suspicions that Zypher was a spy for AF.

Taken individually each circumstance does not conclusively prove much, but considering the atmosphere created by AF in their relations regarding our federation and the actions of Zypher, we have little doubt that Zypher is guilty of espoinage on behalf of Allied Forces. Therefore, the United Confederation hereby declares war on Zypher, and further, for taking advantage of our hospitality during his short stay in the UC, we do hereby, declare Zypher to be an Enemy of the Confederation for so long as he remains on GR.

LDI War Declaration

Quote:

In the course of Simcountry, wars have mainly been fought for three reasons: boredom, fear, and revenge. This war is no different. LDI has chosen to attack the United Confederation. They do have a stated reason, but the true reasons for this attack are quite evident. Their members are leaving the game, and are trying to "go out with a bang" and "bring us down a peg" in order to achieve revenge for their past defeat.

Their stated reason, the belligerence of Wendy, is nothing more than a front. Once her actions were actually brought to our attention, we took action. War was not needed to resolve this, though it has been stated by my peers in LDI that it was. Why did we wait to take action regarding Wendy, you may be wondering? For one, we were absolutely serious when we stated that we wished to leave off-world business off-world; we did not maintain a policy of monitoring or protecting our members anywhere other than Golden Rainbow. They will say that talking with us yielded nothing. Yet when one takes a closer look, it will become apparent that they did not wish for peaceful coexistence. Barney spoke with one member of the United Confederation on day before LDI declared war on Little Upsilon. This is not nearly enough time to communicate with each other or to take action. The only thing we accomplished prior to being faced with massive war declarations was to ask Wendy to stop. When it became apparent that she would not stop, we began the process of trail and eviction for violations of our Charter. Wendy left the United Confederation. During this time, many of our members lost countless assets on Little Upsilon from the unwarranted attacks of LDI.

After this, the retiring player Sam Houston, under the name Johanas Bilderburg, moved on GR and is now building an offensive empire with no purpose other than to destroy. His actions occurred despite our attempts at reconciling things by taking action on Wendy, albeit belated, but no less sincere. This sheds light on the reason that war was declared so fast with no regard to the small delays that will inevitably occur in communication. It becomes apparent that peaceful resolution was not on the minds of LDI and that Wendy had nothing to do with the situation. They wanted all along to catch us with our pants down before they leave Simcountry and get revenge on us for our victory several months earlier. "No morality", there is no wish for morality because there is no argument or even rational discussion that could justify the attacks and recent actions of LDI. These declaration have nothing to do with Wendy and everything to do with the apparently still injured egos of the players in LDI.

In the past, we have tried a policy to keep the United Confederation limited to GR. We have not created a branch on another world. We have not organized our players on another world. We have not worked to monitor or even protect our members off-world. We have tried not to intervene with the politics of other worlds. This apparently was not enough, there were declarations of war. The United Confederation tried to not intervene or get involved. We didn't get involved when Sam declared war on Dirt on LU. We didn't get involved when LDI declared war on Tattooed Priest. We have tried everything in our power to keep the UC on GR and to continue peaceful coexistence with LDI. I'm sorry to say that we have failed due to the sole intention of LDI to conspire the downfall of our entire federation. The undying thirst for revenge apparently dominates the thought of these players. We did not declare war on LDI, they declared war on us. We did not bring the name of the United Confederation to Little Upsilon, they brought our name into this. We did not bring our organization or plans to LU, but have been forced to by LDI. Now, I have heard that they were afraid that we were planning something on LU. Many United Confederation players have been on LU since before the Great War on GR, many have been on LU for several RL months, and very few have recently moved there. If we were up to something, we would have done it long ago and probably should have judging by recent circumstances.

We were fine with burying the hatchet, but found that the handle had been left sticking out by LDI only to be taken up again while we were peacefully enjoying the profit of LU's good markets. When asked what would be required for peace, we were told to accept nothing less than accepting our losses on LU and accepting the LDI move to GR. This has nothing to do with Wendy, this is a demand for withdrawal from a world while they build up on our doorstep. The future of our relations with LDI have been made sorrowfully clear.

We will accept nothing less than our right to exist and play Simcountry. We will accept no less than the acknowledgment that we are only human and are subject to mistakes. If we must fight LDI until they quit Simcountry, then that is their choice; our requests are simple. The decision to go to war is made easy when the options were between submission in peace and submission in defeat. This fight isn't our wish or goal, we were more than happy to coexist peacefully with LDI, but it was not meant to be because of their warmongering intent. We must humbly accept these circumstances, the victor is in the hands of the Lord. All current and former members of LDI are open for declaration by the United Confederation.

--------------------------------------------

I would like to affirm our peaceful intentions to the general SC community. We have just issued a strict order that for the duration of this conflict no other federated player will be attacked for any reason. We will stand by our treaty with Allied Forces. We will be more than happy to accept any help that is offered, and it will be remembered for a long time to come. If you are accidentally attacked by a UC member, message me for immediate reparations and resolution. If you lose assets related to this war, message me for reparations and you will receive it as soon as the conflict allows. I can be reached at Fire Dawning on GR and Flaming Eternity on LU.

Mm Mmmm Yummy.

I remember real Bad Guys like LDI who earned their title and respect, and then I am reminded of all these pop-tarts who are gifted assets and clay claim to a title that will never be earned.

That game years back, was the game i fell in love with. This nonsense going on today is just a disgusting failure.

LDI, AF, UC and a few other feds(Of Old) were the substances that made the game. Now not many federations or players live up to that standard today. I'm not sure why.

I've had an idea. Why don't we have a set amount of federations on Golden Rainbow and every player join one of those federations? This would greatly increase game play and bring back some missing fun from the old days.

I think we should all work together to make Golden Rainbow a fun place to be again and be even better than it was before. Anyone got any suggestions / ideas?

I saw you two hanging out together over there on Lacerta => Berco Yok and wondered what was up. Now I am considering building up one country there (in perpetual war protection of course), gobbling up a half dozen c3's, then offering my amateurish C3 warring capabilities to the highest bidder. PS ... my war level is "variable".
