Members tend to be more mature with their nukes. A lot of newbie players get their hands on nukes and wish to launch them right away, this could cause economic/political destabilization. Its a members safety guard to make sure nukes are maintained within more trust worthy hands.

Mostly its for the safety of new players. -Coughs-

On a side note, I don't think you need nukes anyway. Your pulling up about 600 Billion and loans and only have 68 Bil on hand cash... This is the perfect time for you to "Stop" Buying weapons and "Focus" on building you economy.

If the game were just about war everyone would expect to get nuked. It becomes entertaining when the targets work hard for the assets that get burned.

I thought this game was about self-sufficiency? Personally, I think Jason's very generous with his requirements. I'm pretty well off, and my economy is "ok" - but, I'm still a noob here, and even though I could get nukes, I couldn't support them for long before going into debt.
I've already went into debt financing a double war too quickly; I guess I should've read that statement "the first war you fight against a non-presidential country is even easier to win than normal" more carefully.
Anyhow, point being: 60 years is 120 days, now, you could pay up, and get nukes yourself in probably 1/2 to a 1/4 of that time; maybe spending RL cash will deter u from using them.

They should be used as they are in RL; and the worst thing that can happen, is a rogue state getting them. Hence the requirements are there.

Also, could someone explain something: if a country is nuked, do the public corporation's factories suffer damage? I mean, not secondary damage (worker deaths) but primary, factory destruction/corp death type.

damn. that sucks. would they get destroyed, though? Also, how much of a fallout plume does this engine create? iow, if someone nukes a country that is very large, or hits a location that is on the side of the country that only borders C3's, but there are player countries on the opposite side - would those countries get affected as well?

Depending on the nuke... Sometimes the entire region can be effected.

Personally speaking i think Nuke are an essentail just a few mind you ..as that a Young nation can't substain a large number. in the great Sim country life i'm a noob still, even though i make a little money each month. sometimes i get over enthused and spend more than i make.i have a few nukes and will have more.
I wanted nukes just so that IF i was attacked i could at least FART in the attackers direction.
and that ALL young Noob nations sould ever do is Fart in the direction they launched, mainly because of the nuclear defense batteries the larger non-Farting nations have
