W(h)ining about wheat, newbie wonders... (Kebir Blue)

Is the current price crash and oversupply of wheat on KB due to some price fixing nefarious actions of some player, like dumping tons and tons of it on the market, as happened a couple of times recently with oil, or is it some quirk of the game, maybe representing a bumper crop in the mid-west US or somewhere? Any how I'm now having to bail my corp out with tax payers money, in an election run up as well !!!

Ira very perceptive of you. The market fluctates on occasion which affects all products on a varying scale. Also agricultural products are not a stable or profitable commodity to base a state economy on. You should expand into the industrial sector/mining/utilities to find a more profitable niche to exploit.

Ahh, thank you, agreed. But I would also point out that the person responsible for the two recent oil hiccups owned up to dumping 8B tons of it in one hit, and in fact on one occasion pre-warned of their actions in these very posts. So maybe not all is cyclical, mysterious dark forces are at work my friend...
And trust me, my economy does not rely on agriculture, in fact my one wheat corp is looking like getting the scythe very soon. Mining or utilities you say, yes maybe, thank you, and war, well history seems to show it is profitable.

The market is self correcting Ira. Any single player can only temporarily effect market conditions.

Thank you Sam, as my time here grows I see the swings in the different commodities clearer and over 2 game years my oil revenue has been quite healthy. The only product I have tried and had to ditch was Airports, couldn't see any future in that.

A single player won't permanently change commodity prices in one direction. A single player can consistently cause huge oscillations in a price.

Standing on one side of the boat won't sink the boat but jumping around can make a few people sea sick and possibly draw in some water.
