Well there it goes another bully got 8 countries for free. And the Game lost another Player.
Its a shame how it is, offens is plain to strong and easy. A strong player can whipe any player below him without considerable looses. Defenses even 10 times bigger have no effect as offenses are more accurate and hit where they do damage while defens cant be everywhere and if its no match for offense. It will never end that a few strong players will mess up the game for all "new" players that want to play this game. Alot of money the devs loose this way but cant be helped. Have Fun trying to find any Fun here, good buy.

I suggest you contact the Gamemaster directly to complain.

This raid was a very, VERY direct result of the Gamemaster's obsession with reducing cash levels...to the point where a country is no longer even allowed to have enough cash to accommodate automated ordering functions before it is taxed away by financial services.

I fear that as GM tightens his grip on cash, this will happen far more often...

I can understand justification related of decreased profitability as well as increasing density of LU active players;
but how raiding other countries increases cash level limit and decreases burden of financial services?

Fred, FS was irrelevant to this case. I had 25T across 7 countries, the game up and ordered 20T ammo for me one day. My average net cash dropped below 1T, and I dropped from level 6 to level 2.

This raid wasn't about getting money to see taxed away by FS; this raid was about replenishing a minimal cash reserve that the game decided to blow one day on ammo!

Raiding players, active or inactive, is and always has been a perfectly valid means of aquiring SimAssets.

W3C knows full well that when they wreck the economic system, (this is hardly the first time) that players will turn to alternative means.

Kudos, Keith. Continue to cull the herd as you see fit.

Meh, if he's not sticking around anymore, I may as well keep some more decs active against his remaining countries, until the countries I just took lose their WP.

Then I can transfer in SF, drop them, paint, and save me assloads in ammo costs. :)

First of all, I do know I annoy you with my contraries views.

But anyway, let me (without any morality clause) explain why it may not be such a good idea to cull the heard prematurely.

You see, this game is, by design, is not balanced.
Games of this nature typically either have reset to level a playing field or have (as MMORPGs) specific enforced restrictions to prevent uneven combat.

Because nobody took care of such restrictions, there are only two ways for a new player to integrate:
- to join establish federation (sna or valde)
- limit themselves in safety of protection

In both cases it does not expand competitive player base and nobody benefits.

Now you may say that it is not an issue, as far as from your gaming experience existing community big enough. And it may be so, but is rather stagnant.

All superfeds and players within them are trying to attain lead of power through economic growth and arms acquisition, but it is not attainable to Sun Tzu standard of victorious warrior first winning the war.
It is like GM saying they are going to reach Toyota labor % cost in three years, as if Toyota sitting there waiting for them to reach their 37% mark doing absolutely nothing to compete.

All sides will be equally armed making wars between large conglomerates an uncertain proposition.
For that matter, I do not understand why do you guys care if you have 20mil missiles on your budget or 200K? It is all relative and does not matter, as long as your friendly neighbor has the same scale of fiscal strength.

So, why would not you negotiate (to limit economic devastation) wars (competitions if you would) for fun between yourselves and try to attract as many new players and protect them till they conditioned to compete on federation level?
Why would not you guarantee them grow to L7 (5 countries) anyway? Because you cant wait running out of money for missiles you are not willing to risk anyhow except for slaughtering sheep, inactive and C3s (and for that you don't need that many)?

Just a food for thought.

Well I see it like this,

The GM has created this mess by reducing the Money and raising the Cost

The GM is insigating the need to "Covent" what another has.

The GM is the Problem.

the equasion used to be this:
Time = money
To figure the minimum, figure out how much money you're making per year and divide it by 2,000. To figure the maximum, consider how much you make for your most productive time -- closing a deal, a speaking engagement, billable client time, etc. Somewhere in between there is the real value of your time.

therefore,
one hour of my times worth 19.5 us dollars per hour.
looking at it frome this point of view the GM should be increasing my time worth of game play not trying to decrease my Worth.

also this point of view:

women = time X money

: : and according to Benjamin Franklin, "time is money"

: : time = money

: : so we have

: : women = money X money, so women = money^2

: : from the Bible, we know money is the root of all evil

: : money = sqrt(evil)

: : by squaring both sides we have

: : money^2 = evil

: : and making the final substitution, we conclude

: : women = evil

: : GM stop the Women they are taking to much of your resources and costing us

if each missile sqrt($19.95)^evil and each missile power of 3KT of TNT equivalent (Total Noob Tool)

If I have 2,000,000 missiles and you have 2,000,000 missiles would it make any difference from
I have 2,000 missiles and you have 2,000 missiles

eh might be cuz im newb only having played after the gm has done whatever it is to reduce cash making potential not sure how easy you vets had it or watever but as far as i learned when i was in school you either evolve or go extinct... so evolution means in our case now cutting costs to increase profits, there will be a time when u run out of other countries to take over for profit and then what...so ya go take the countries while u can but eventualy you either have no one left to sell to, no one left to take over and your back to square one that is nothing to do but then disarm or go bankrupt

My average FI was 125 when all my cash went bye bye...I should have been making profit in spite of my military.

Unless you suddenly need a FI of 200 to break even now.

I will continue to profit whether by economy or by raiding until my membership expires, whereupon I'll have a massive gold coin sale/cashout. I've had enough.

FredMark (Golden Rainbow)

Keith,

As you know I am a noob.
But I have lousy 700 corps ent (Voshod POO on LU) that generates 0.8T twice a day and it is not even 80% 225/225 and most (over 90%) corps are c3.
My little country is a joke (I use it as a breeding ground for corps) but it is rather profitable with MIB L5 military.

My point is that EVERYONE has the same playing field here (well, almost). It is not a question or Ranger versus Shadowknight, Tempest of Set versus Wizard or Minstrel vs Captain. That would be Naval Fighter versus Naval Helicopter cost/benefit and I imagine would be legitimate (how much do I know).

I am not sure I grasp what difference does it make, as long as 90Mil of your country can support exactly the same military as your neighbor 90 mil country equally well managed without exploits.
It can be 20 tanks, 2 divisions, 200 groups of armies as long as it is the same, what difference does it make?

Keith Allaire (Kebir Blue)

Enough. Stop. Someone who is previously making billions of dollars per month should NOT lose 20T in a day. I have talked to several players who this has happened to, and I feel more raids are in line. I advise all of you to band up if you haven't already.

FredMark (Golden Rainbow)

Saturday, February 28, 2009 - 07:10 am Click here to edit this post
No, no, I am not accusing you, never even crossed my mind.

I have this tendency of making unnecessary in-line definitions, in that instance it was defining equal conditions for 2 players.

What I meant to say:
Imagine tomorrow cost of all military equipment (every single piece and soldier reqs) decreases 100 times.
Outside of economic impact first few days on corps, it would mean that you and your neighbor will have military size of at least 50 times bigger as it used to be, as far as you can afford it. and you both would feel richer (and you are) because in relative terms you cut your military down in a half.
Same way works in reverse, if we imagine military cost is 100 times higher, you and your neighbor would cut it down by 98% and you both would feel poor (and you are), because in relative terms you both have twice as much military.
What I meant to say that scale of your military does not really matter at all, as scale for anything as long as it is equally applied.
In earlier wars 10K soldiers was a huge army, in March of 1944 USSR had fighting force of over 14 million men. Number is all relative

Beast (Fearless Blue)

Saturday, February 28, 2009 - 07:20 am Click here to edit this post
Fredmark,

The issue isn't that you can make profit. It is that in general, corps are not as profitable, CEOs and countries are not as profitable, and gold coins remain the same price. This said, we are ALL relatively poorer than we were before, but our costs remain the same.

ah now that is where it makes sense to me when you put it that way eo. we are all relatively poorer cuz GC prices stay the same... but will gc prices stay the same? remember gm is only temporarily selling gc on the market to reduce cash. they will stop. then its back to the market to determine wat gc is worth... maybe we all make half the money so gc becomes half the cost? then the value of paying for gc with real cash goes down so they will give us more gc for our real money and gc gets cheaper still i mean im a capitalist i believe in free markets and the invisible hand will handle things over the long term but short term yes much chaos.

WRONG

When I first started playing I may not have understood how "sensitive and aggressive" some players would/could be.

I joined Valde and was "greenlit" by LDI with approval from Dub and Laguna (I think the wording was, "teach her something while you are at it", Yeah that was it.

I don't know about SNA ( well yeah I do, it was started by TP from UC on GR) but being in Valde or any large fed for that matter doesn't necessarily mean you will be protected.

UNLESS you are in the UC. Regardless of what I may have said or done in game or on the forums, not a hair on my chinny chin chin has been plucked on GR. For that I am grateful but I have to point out that UC has been the only truly protective federation I have been apart of.

AND Guess what, they aren't on LU, so you are NOT protected, well maybe if you are SNA.

LU has moved from being an eco world to a war zone, there is too much at stake here. If you manage profitable empires on three month worlds, you should in theory or practice make twice as much on LU, with cash down and profits down in established empires, LU may prove to be the place to be for the foreseeable future.

The game is well balanced toward the defense and it is easy for new players to not "get culled".

Buy defensive weapons. When you purchase weapons the cash disappears. Then there is no cash for another player to take. A player with a larger army could destroy a new player's defensive weapons. But in that case there is nothing to take.

Lack of defense and excess cash stockpiles are both very good reasons to attack in a war game.
