The Law of LU (Little Upsilon)

First I recognize Wendy for the idea that started this. Thank you Wendy.

We the Presidents of LU accept these basic truths as the as before unwritten Law of LU.

1. Do not be an asshat.

2. Do not hostile bid. Do not nationalize without advance warning.

3. Do not annoy others in game or on the forums.

4. Its all about respek yo. Give respek and you shall receive respek from others.

5. This is a game. It's not real. Act accordingly.

6. No player has the right to direct the actions of any other player. Each player reserves the right to enact a multitude of consequences for said actions but accepts the basic right to play the game as a sovereign nation without interference.

7. Build a proper defense. If you need help seek the advice of an established Federation for assistance. War is an integral part of the game and as such "Be Prepared".

8. We agree to establish

I think 1 is too vague and covered sufficiently in 2, 4, 5 (maybe) and 6. Although I appreciate the straightforwardness of such a rule, I think something unifying like: 'Do not be intentionally offensive'. Which is still so vague that I move to strike 1 altogether.

2 has my agreement.

3 is again vague, but the sentiment is just. I suggest something like: 'Do not repeatedly perform annoying actions in game or in the forums'. But still, 'annoying' is too subjective.

4 should definately be rewritten. It is really more of a tip as is and should be covered in a statement like 3.

5 has my agreement.

6 has my firm agreement.

7 has my agreement.

8 interests me. Would it be possible to build an empire through war and then declare as an 'econ only'? Or would I have to acquire countries only through peaceful means (buyouts etc). The former is open to abuse a

Interesting idea, Sam. The other points aside, I'd like to offer my support for #8.

I support 1-3, 5 and 6 the rest meh.

No on 8, unless they are prepared to defend themselves already. Meaning they have a sufficient air defense, batteries to fully cover their cities, and some means to fight back, be it a small fighter, bomber, or LBCM force.

This is not much to ask, and I would feel much better throwing my assets on the line if the person I was defending at least had something to blunt their attacker's spear.


7 & 8 should be a bundle deal. Both or neither.

The econ only idea would not involve how you acquire your countries only be binding after you sign the thread.

Once done the player would not be allowed to belong to a non econ Fed, attack other countries, or assist others in fighting. There would be no limits on defense and a strong air defense if nothing else would be encouraged.

I for one would be willing to smack down anyone who attacked a declared econ only player.

The only law are game rules.

Why is that? Because its a game. Trying to enforce any other rules beyond game rules is arrogance of power.

The incompetence of Verizon is appalling to say the least.

The bumbling fewls managed to cross my phone and intyernet accounts with another local customer, leaving me in the dark. At last it is resolved. I am now in Florida atm, and it may become permamnent. Real Estate in NJ is sickly high, despite the economic downturn. Florida (SouthWest FL) is a ghost town! Everything is dirt cheap. I see High Profits in my "house flipping" future.

I am back to the game, alot has transpired since, and I am happy to see all the wolves getting along once again.
