My country is in war with a C3, and I have painted the entire enemy map, but every time I try to attack a country, city, or capital no matter whether I attack defenses or attack the unit I lose almost my entire unit... is there anything I can do to prevent/reduce this?

What Blueserpent said.

There are three ways of going about it:

1. Fighter Planes
Make a wing and attack with 1000 Fighter Planes + 710 Attack Drones (or Precision Bombers). The Bombers/Drones will absorb any damage while your Fighters freely attack. If you target a county and attack defenses, the Interceptors will respond. The number of Interceptor wings will usually be equal to the war level of the country you are at war with times two: sometimes one more, sometimes one less. Keep attacking like this until they're gone. If the country you're at war with is on your border, you will need a Land Force unit within 50 km of any target you attack. Once the interceptors are gone, select target on each of the wings to destroy the Helicopters. The number of Helicopter wings will usually be equal to the war level of the country you are at war with.

2. Navy Fighter Planes
This is more expensive than using Fighter Planes and will lead to losses of Navy Fighters, to the point where this type of attack is unfeasible for higher War Levels (3+ in my opinion). These will not benefit from any form of shielding like Fighter Planes. If you target a county and attack defenses using these, the Interceptors will respond. Keep attacking until no more respond. If you do the same - this time adding 1 Cruise Missile Ship or Guided Missile Frigate (only 1 needed), the Helicopters will respond. Keep attacking until no more respond.

3. Offensive Anti Aircraft Missile Batteries
Make a Long Range Division with 1000 Offensive Anti Aircraft Missile Batteries and 2145 Mid Range Missile Batteries. Same idea as with the Fighters + Bombers/Drones, the Mid Range will protect the Anti Aircraft Batteries. If you target a county and attack defenses using these, the Helicopters will respond. Keep attacking until no more respond. Now, you can do as before with the Fighters and target the air wings until the Interceptors are gone if you plan on using any other Air weapons (Fighters/Bombers/Drones/Attack Helicopters). Or if you will just be using ground-based weapons (Mid Range, Heavy Artillery/Tanks, Land Based Cruise, Ship Based Cruise, and so forth.), you can just ignore the Interceptors entirely.

After this, continue attacking as normal.

With the Navy Fighter Planes: If the country you're at war with is on your border, you will need a Land Force unit within 50 km of any target you attack. The consequence of not doing this is sharply reduced firepower, leading to more losses. If the country is not on your border, this is not required. Same with normal Fighter Planes and just about every unit that is attacking from an air wing or fleet . . . the same is NOT true of the Offensive Anti Aircraft Missile Batteries.
