I think we could agree that most involved here are experienced and have seen this movie time and time again. I think we could also agree that at some level there is respect and a high level of competence.

Based on that I want to say it was a legitimate, honest retraction of a statement. What other purpose would it serve? No one was going to be fooled, one way or another.
If it wasn't genuine it wouldn't have been put out there.

I do read this stuff though and thought I had spotted a loophole in one of your legal documents.
