Yarthok (White Giant) | Monday, August 25, 2008 - 01:20 am Total newb, so be gentle. I obviously don't know how the unemployment rate is computed... What am I missing that makes the following statistics consistent? Shouldn't the percentage unemployed be?: (Number of unemployed) divided by ((Number of unemployed) plus (Number of employed)) I compute that to be about 4.5% unemployment, not 14.95%. Population 8,604,517 Employment Index 85.05 Percentage Unemployed 14.95 Number of Employed 3,641,394 Number of Unemployed 171,492 Thanks in advance! |

However, the game includes these two groups as unemployed for purposes of calculating unemployment rate. That probably explains the difference. |
