The only thing I have left to get past 75 in order to reach level two is my defensive index. So I wanted to know what good ways to get that up are, but what I really want to know is are there inexpensive ways? If so then what are they?

I will however take any tips. :)

Buy cheap weapons (the ones in the green). Interceptors tend to increase you DFI a bit as well.

You could try setting up corp(s) to make defensive weapons such as missile batts, AA etc, don't upgrade them, buy 100 Q supplies and contract all production to your country at 100 Q. One corp wont get you loads but with time..., also your corps should show a profit or at least you're getting cheap weapons, pointless having >100 weapons.

Well, There's one way i'd do it. Buy the cheapest defensive weapons in the market like Angus said.
Don't get confident that you'll reach 75 by just buying 100,000 Jeeps, Armored Vehicles, or the Cheapest. It'll only raise it too a mid decent amount of Defensive Index, If you have Corps that are producing Defensive missles then buy them from the corporation, If you don't have the Corps making them, Set them up.

Here's my 2nd Solution if you're a Full Member and trying to get 100 Coins :

Now, If you are close to getting to the Defensive Index 75, and have about enough money like 3 Trillion or higher, I would go hunger power buying the defensive missles, interceptors, batteries, ETC.

Once you get 100 Coins, Sell them on the cash market for more money :p

Don't just buy the cheapest weapons. Buy the ones that will increase your DI the most and with the least manpower.

What weapon is this, you ask? Missile Interceptor Batteries.

There is also a list in the game documentation that gives a breakdown of how much each weapon type will increase your index.... you know, in case anyone is into that whole "reading" thing :)

EDIT: The suggestions about making a defense corporation and contracting it to yourself will only help you lose money, either through paying for upgraded weapons or through running an un-upgraded corporation that sells for base price. Plus it's slow.

ALSO: Ammo doesn't increase your index, only the weapons themselves.

ALSO: It's better to invest your 100 coins in population (unless you already have something over 50M) for the purpose of growing your economy. It's a much sounder investment than simply selling them for cash.

Thanks for all the tips, so far all I've done is purchase a few defensive weapons, I'll definatley start buying more once my cash gets up to about 2.5T.

Btw, Heads up. You may face consequences like your Finance Index will be going down large if you aren't at the qualitiy of position.

Petra, why would you worry about buying un-upgraded weapons, seriously, I've always been led to believe that weapon quality doesn't matter in performance, (er, maybe I should rephrase that...) please tell me if I've mis-understod. An un-upgraded corps can always be upgraded once its served its purpose (here I think we are talking about reaching higher levels) and yes it is slow, but this whole game is not exactly an instant andrenaline rush. As for GC, I like to count mine, and they're handy for continuing membership.

Buying upgraded quality weapons = losing money

Running an un-upgraded corporation = losing money

Either way you lose money.

Use the world market. It's quicker too.

Petra, Just because of the performance or quality of a Weapon, It doesn't raise your Defense Index.
Keep on track my friend.

Oh yes, Btw I've reach lvl 2 YAYYYYY ;p

I never said that the quality has any effect on the DI. Where do you gather that I did?

If I may chip in another tuppence worth Petra, the question asked initially for this thread was how to raise DI, not a financial one. Gaining level 2 = gaining money (100 GC), therefore running an un-upgraded corp doesn't = losing money.
Pine forest, if you read the documentation re: defence, as Petra says MIBs look favorite, good luck, just got level 3 in my sights...
