Attack and Naval helicopters are best considered as longer range, hard hitting drones.

The big difference other than manpower requirements and casualty figures, is Naval Helicopters since they are in a seperate fleet cannot be used as shields.

Having said that .. there are more "useful" weapon systems to own. Depends on what you run up against though.

It's just something else you would have to defend.

No, helicopter carriers can only carry naval helicopters.

I don't know so much Bob. I bought some of them off LG, and when they went to battle they just sat there eating the bananas instead of using them on the enemy.

There is only one corporation per world that can produce them. It is staffed solely by bare chested, sarong-clad, low level cabana boys. Laguna owns that corporation on every world. Like all strategic weapons, they are unavailable on the world market and must be purchased directly.

There is no such thing as a banana armed space monkey anymore.

I got tired of them pulling the curtains off the wall so had them all put down. Not to mention they refused to wear a diaper and you can just imagine what all those bananas did.

What's wrong with naval helicopters? They seem to be 1/3 as good as NFP's, at 1/4 the costs. In the right situations they could be useful.

They also need a separate defense. By the time you factor in not being able to have a helicopter carrier and aircraft carrier in the same fleet, you're looking at 1/3 as good as NFP, at more than 1/3 the cost, at least if you want them defended anyway.

Either drones or navy helicopters are useful when the enemy's only batteries are missile interceptors. This is especially true if the target is almost out of ammunition. The base costs of missile interceptors and navy missiles are about the same but the market usually drives the cost of missile interceptors up to double the base costs. Granted it is rare but I have seen a few. I still have a few helicarriers on white giant because I can't get rid of them.

Helicopters can also fly in circles and make monkeys dizzy. Helicopters are also known to make cattle stampede over barbed wire.
