Share deal - Have I been conned? (Golden Rainbow)

I recently made an offer to buy shares in a company. They were basically worthless and I bid to buy 51% of the company. When I logged in next day, the trade had gone through but for some reason the shares had jumped hugely in price and the deal cost me billions. Next month, the shares plummeted back to being worthless. Have I done something wrong or have I been conned?

I think that you've bought only half of the shares and you only control that half.
I haven't bought shares before, but i guess that's the case.

Thanks for your reply. I knew I was bidding for half the shares. My query is that they huge hugely in price just before the deal went through and then slumped to being worthless immediately after. It just seems strange.
