Strret Map (Little Upsilon)

While looking at the street level of my cities i noticed next to Hospitals/Schools/Uni's that there's a number next to it allowing me to drag more of these icons onto the city map .. what i need to know is: Is this just for looks or are these numbers not being utilised by my cities and I'd be wise to drag them all onto the maps?

I think it's just for looks same as with the main map when u have too many factorys clutering up your map u can switch some to be not visable.
