Hello,

I've started a war as always against a c3 country. But now, I'm losing all my units every attack, here I normally lose 75% first attack 60% second 40% third etc. I have an army as "Spotter" before them.
What can be the reason of this?

What weapons are you attacking with?
What targets are you attacking? Are you attacking target or defenses of target?
Did you clear the air defense first?
Is it a neighboring country?

Sounds to me like he's attacking the target before clearing out the Air Defense.

But then I've been gone from this game for years however, took a C3 with basically what I got when I registered the country in the first hours so don't think it's changed THAT much.

I figured the same thing too.
Yes fighting c3s is basically the same until you go up in war levels, which even then is the same except for more air wings and the addition of stealth bomber wings, which attack your countries weapons.
By the way, welcome back Yankee. We never met as you left around the time I would have been a newb/noob. Lol, now I'm considered a veteran.

I attack the air wing as always, and destroying "The defence". Normally I NEVER lose the whole airwing, but now I do...

What are you using as shields for the FP?

Is your wing fighting quality high?

Got all the ammo you need?

Attacking town/county first? Attacking garrisoned targets will lose you more planes.

There are more int wings in C3s as you go up the war levels so you should expect more losses if you're fighting higher WLs.

Joriss_s never attack the air defense directly until it's dead. Once dead you do attack it to destroy the trucks and slow down the possible resupply however on a C3 you can usually take it down before that happens.

Build a wing of 400 drones and 100 fighters and load it up with ammo (I have 5 such wings in my piss-ant little country).

Use your long range radar plane to recon a lightly defended C3 target such as a fort and either move a long range division into support range or drop special forces. Choose the fort and attack DEFENSE (not target).

The C3 aircraft will go for your drones and allow your fighters to kill them. Continue until the air wings are dead then hit them again to destroy the unit.Drones use to work against aircraft and still appear to so you've actually got them outnumbered.

Then move on to painting the map and destroying non defended targets such as towns, counties and forts with your ground forces (once the fort defense is dead of course however most forts are not defended).

Once you've taken the C3 all the military you didn't have to destroy is now yours to transfer and sell if you so desire.

I use to use this method to bleed entire federations of their air defense in a matter of minutes.

Would assume from my first C3's it's still a semi-viable tactic.

The only problem is or was, if you are fighting a player you only want as much ammo in a unit as it can reasonably use (have to figure it out again) since if it is destroyed all the ammo goes with it.

I don't think much has changed but then I'm still a nOOB right now.

I do it with around the same tactic and normally it end with only the first 2/3 attack with big losses on the drones. But then I have almost no losses and I conquer the country...

joriss_s, I just checked your recent war.
One issue I see is you use attack helicopters with FP/drones. Attack helis only attack ground forces, not defensive helis/ints, so don't use them.
Not sure if you're doing it or not, but pick a county and attack the defenses of that county to draw out the air defense. Counties have no garrisons. Or you can pick each air wing from the target list and destroy them one by one starting with interceptors.
Also, try attacking air defense with only a wing of fighter planes. The losses should be about the same as using drones for cover, so you save money for the cost of drones. You wont lose any FPs against helicopters.
Other then that, your losses appear to be small.
I don't use ground forces here's what I do:
1 airforce attack wing=500FP, I take interceptors/helicopters
1 airforce attack &bombing wing=500 bombers, bombers attack defense of forts, cities, capitol, corporations
Then the bombers destroy the target of Capitol, cities, corporations.
I use cruise missiles to destroy the target of forts. You can use bombers but the losses are greater.

Well if you are on LU you can look at Enigma's recent war. Other than having a defense unit I was unaware of take out some of my arty until I figured out what was going wrong and killed it, things went pretty much to plan.

Cruise missiles work, (or use to) very well against a variety of targets. They are however expensive which when dealing with a C3 can defeat the purpose which is making money.

Of course against a player the most expensive part is losing so all concerns about money tend to disappear.

Not so long ago PBs were considered a more cost effective shield than drones.

Ground wars seem more popular nowadays, no need to destroy any ints.

And Yankee, I think you'll find that now any military left disappears when you win C3 wars, the GM saying that the cash reward and GC award for going up war levels, should suffice.

Yes most of the weapons appear to disappear but some remains.

There are still the corps to rape so I doubt I'll be destroying many state owned. Although I haven't figured out if the material is worth the cash they send back if you do.

I've been choosing NOT to go up war levels ... what difference does that make in cash?

Crafty

The C3 holds 1T cash per war level, so one level higher = 1T more banked. And you get GC awards for going up war levels. You would have to research what they are, but I do know FB pays a lot more in awards.

Yankee

so if I'm already pulling 1T in cash plus another 500 - 700B out in weapons, materials etc. the cash for level 2 would be 2T, do they leave you more of the other things to rob?

What in the name of Sim Country are those space shuttle looking things?

Those require a change in tactics and I think I understand the use of Cruise missiles on a C3 now :)

lol, the ones in purple squares? They're space centers. You get shuttles and space stations that you get docks on so you can trade stuff there for GC or you can fly stuff from world to world. The world to world moving of stuff is definately something you should look into if you go to other worlds.

C3s dont store things in their space centers but presidents certainly often do. And you never know what goodies could be hidden in there...

Yankee

They aren't a space center they seem to be a fairly effective weapon system. At least for my current level of weapon inventory.

I guess that's what they are ... well something on level two was slaughtering my units just haven't figured out what or why yet.

If you dont destroy all the air wing units individually, the c3 will create another air wing during the war. That goes for ints/helis.

That may have been the cause.

No actually I screwed up and didn't recon targets like I always do. It's all about numbers and I suspect on level two the air defense wings are larger. I'll pay closer attention next time :)

If that's the case next time won't be a problem, it was just initially a shock.
