You know how if you launch an air attack against an enemy target, the presence of friendly land forces near the target makes your air unit more effective? I was wondering if anyone knows if the same thing applies to DEFENSIVE air units, such as interceptor wings or helicopter wings. That is to say if an enemy attacks a target in your country such as a small town, and there is a defensive garrison stationed there or an army unit stationed nearby, will the presence of friendly ground forces make the response of your DEFENSIVE air force more effective than it would otherwise be, even if those ground forces themselves have no weapons useful against the attacking unit? Also, what about automatic counterattacks by stealth bombers? Are they also made more effective by the proximity of friendly ground forces? What about attacks with cruise missiles or conventional long range missiles?
