Is the old ASQ strategy (specifically in regards to FMU's) still viable? Or other strategies more widely used now?

Would anyone care to offer some possible benchmarks to hit before starting to build an empire opposed to the catch and release I'm currently practicing in regards to C3 countries? (ie triillions of dollars in warchest, population, number of units whose weapons are being built up in enterprises etc).

ASQ does not work since a change that made the value of a unit of supplies important in the quality of the finished product. In other words, the higher priced supplies were given more influence per unit on the finished product. This defeated the strategy of buying those higher priced supplies, such as FMUs, at a lower quality and making up the difference buying the cheaper supplies at a higher quality.

As far as your benchmark question, I am reading that to infer you are asking what you should have available to defend yourself before a combination of your raiding C3s and you keeping additional countries means that you have things to defend. My answer would be that LU tends to be mostly peaceful and unless you have old enemies following you back to the game you are probably okay with having a modest ability to defend yourself. On the other hand, if you join Titan and participate in our shared defense program, one would be foolish to attack you.
