I've just entered game level 4 on WG and keep getting shortages of ammunition and various army maintenance, after entering game level 4 do you have to manually purchase them? and are there any other changes that happen as you move up game levels? Thanks Craig

Congratulations!! Yes you are forced to manually handle purchases after level 4.

and especially after having used the perfectly fine automated system, you'll see that it is really really really really really lame that surprise!!! you've done so well that you're now forced to handle purchases manually!!

and you'll find it's a colossal waste of time just because "As of Game Level 4, a president should have the skills to run a country."

well sure but what if you're handling a half dozen or so countries and a enterprise or two. .. well at that point I guess we should have lots and lots of skills to make . . .. lots and lots of manual purchases . . . .

and sure you've already seen that the automated system works just fine but who cares ?? you got skills bro ???? better break out that calculator because you know you're going to use it !!

I think I'm going to sabotage my empire to maintain a low level, like have several broke countries or something, or better yet just keep all simcurrency in account rather than countries, just so I can shift my focus to other things than manually purchasing resources . . .actually I think I'm going to do that so thanks for giving me the idea by raising this question. and yes I understand the resource system, but really ?? I get rewarded by being forced to waste my time???? ok . . .where did logic go because I missed it ??

and before anybody says that it is actually a good idea to force me to make manual purchases of rapidly depleting resources, then tell me do you make manual purchases for your corporations?? somehow I highly doubt it . . and is your country not unlike . . a big corporation ??? hhmmmm . . ..

. . anyway welcome to Simcountry !!

Often, it is a good idea to follow market price and pick up a good stock while price is low. However, automatic ordering is available regardless of level and occurs all the time. To configure setting go to trade -> order strategy and quality.

Usually, the shortages you mentioned are caused by adding weapons to your country and/or raiding c3s. Raiding c3s will use up a fair bit of ammunition and deployed units will seek to replenish used ammo from your stock.

Perhaps. . .I stand corrected. If my country is automatically ordering supplies as I've configured it to do so, than that's definitely not as effective as it used to be, I guess I mean when my country was smaller . . .I have observed a pattern that there are world market shortages in the same resources my country has shortages in, however I must also admit these shortages in my country stockpile seem to have became a lot more frequent after level 4, as well is there not a shortage of most resources anyway?? Perhaps that is merely a coincidence . . . . ?? That may be. I thought I had it figured out but perhaps not, and so I am still trying to figure out exactly why I am being hit with more shortages (I've raised my order setting to order years ahead rather than months of resources, maybe that will help avoids shortages). All I can really say for sure is don't listen to me over Aries as he has a much deeper understanding of the mechanics of things than I do.

Ive changed some of my trade strategies and will see if that gets rid of the shortages. Thanks to you both.

Don't thank me, I was merely using your question as a platform to complain. Aries knows better than I in regards to technical details.
