I don't know whether this has been answered before, but can you keep your weapons in them for free in your country?

Yes. And they do zero upkeep and costs.

And ahem, you could keep nuclear ahem missiles and nuclear ahem weapons in there.

and you can *cough* acquire such nuc-*cough*lear miszilesz at *cough* carina space station

If you do purchase those commodities, may I suggest that the Grand Duchy of Ney is not an attractive, hmmm, "end market" for them? I'm sure there are many more sites where they can be employed to better advantage. :P

If you keep military weapons in a country space center they still consume ammo and use military maintenance products. Just to let you know. They still require upkeep.

They don't make your country draft more soldiers and officers I believe. So they're basically reserve, but still require maintenance and ammo. I could be wrong. I didn't check. I do know for a fact they still require upkeep because I'd keep a few ten thousand interceptors, helicopters, DMB, MIB, and AA batteries in them, and I'd have to pay for them/keep ammo.

Ahh I see, so they still consume ammo and military maintenance? Well as long as they don't still draft in hundreds of thousands of soldiers and officers was my main concern as I need them for my corporations. Thanks Zen.

weapons in space centers count, cost and consume like all other weapons.

The only place where weapons are not counted as part of any country is on space stations.

Where would we find relevant statistics then for the population employed and costs associated with weapons stored in enterprises or in corporations(whether player country countries on in C3's)?

Andy was speaking about countries, but you can store weapons in enterprises at no cost.

I know. It was a facetious remark. No cost in the corp if you retain the product. (Other then the obvious losses from not selling it.)

The cost of a weapon, is the same if it is in a country, or a space center or in a military unit.

No cost indeed in an enterprise and no soldiers or officers needed. Enterprises have no army. Space centers are not the only place.

Also, when weapons are deactivated, the cost is much reduced.

I recently tried to see how to reduce the cost of the army by moving nukes to an enterprise. Possible of course but it took some clicking.

The number of soldiers and officers per weapon is specified in the weapons document.
