THIS IS A QUESTION TO ANYONE WHO KNOWS THE ANSWER TO HOW TO TRANSPORT SUPPLIES OVER LONG DISTANCES. IN THIS CONTEXT IT IS IN CONTEXT WITH THE FACT SUPPLY UNITS TRANSPORT THINGS. MY MAIN UNIT IS THE SUPPLY GROUND UNIT BECAUSE THE ARMY IT IS SUPPLYING IS A LONG WAY AWAY SO ONLY ANSWER IF YOU KNOW HOW TO TRANSPORT SUPPLIES TO ARMIES A LONG WAY AWAY.

What is the best way to transport supplies for an army in my federation (7,707.01 game miles) away and constantly supply it for the duration of a war?

use scheduled air droppings or Airlift Supply units to foreign base(Rapid deployment unit constructed bases) or friendly military airport..

I assume the army units were flown over to that far away location.
in that case you need to set up remote depos and an airfields to fly supplies over, have supply units on location and start a remote supply process.

andy, what do you do if the distance exceeds that of your transport planes? I've wanted to create remote depots before, but the federation countries were too far away for my transport planes to get too. therefor if I could never conduct long range wars i.e. 15,0000 kilometers away

You have to make 10,000 KM hops with depots.

but the issue is that i cannot create a depot more than 10000km away. so i build the 1st depot at 10000km then i rebase troops there, but after that i cant do much

why can't supply fleet be used to supply stuffs we need no matter how far the location might be? they should be able to play the role of air Transport unit when it has to deal with faraway locations..

yea like a naval invasion armada, or how about mid air refueling for transport planes and other fighters/bombers. thats what happens in real life, i feel like thatd be a cool feature in this as well

As John said, you need to make 10.000 km/miles hops.

We could trivialize the entire function by increasing ranges to 40.000
but that was not the idea behind it.

very long distance is complex and you can do it or remain closer to home.

we should have given extra points to players who are successfully utilizing very long distance transports.

Kyle you can create depots beyond 10,000 KM if you use rapid deployment units. From your home country, airdrop them to a country that has given you access that is less than 10,000 km away. Then create an airfield + depot with the unit. The next thing you need to do is airlift, not airdrop, another rapid deployment unit to the new airfield. Once they land at the new airfield, you can then airdrop them to the next hop and create the airfield + depot. I have experimented with double hops before, so it is possible.

ive tried that and while i can create that second remote depot further than 10000km from my country, my transport planes will not fly to them to bring supplies as they are out of range. so esstentially i have an empty depot at 17,000km that cannot supply any forward operations

Great.
I am happy you did and have the experience.

It is not used a lot but we would not want to trivialize it by doubling the ranges and making it obsolete.

Kyle when you deploy the transport planes, deploy them to the distant airfield. You can deploy air units on any airfield you own, even if it is in another country. The way supply for depots work is from airfield to depot. So you don't actually have to fly supplies from the home country. You can pick up the supplies from any airfield your country owns. So your transport planes actually make a two second trip from the forward airfield to the forward depot to supply.

soooo you'll never be able to supply units further than 10,000km from your home country??? because transport planes only base out of your home country, they'll only supply up to 10,000km away regardless of if you set up a remote depot further or not

Reread my message. I edited it for more clarity. Yes you can supply units at any range.

Thanks for all the help guys your messages it saved me a lot of time experimenting, i'm going to hop supply depots every 10,000(game miles) with supply units to create a supply line, I have to do this because I don't know if my neighbor is going to invade me so I have to build a navy.
