Natural Resource Re-population

What is the conventional wisdom.

Am I better to leave the last one of a type up or deplete it?

Example: I have one iron resource left, Should I mine it and leave 0 of that resource available? Or should I leave it?

Which if either speeds up regenerating a resource?

The only regeneration I remember seeing is when the game gods feel generous and replenish the whole world.

The gamemaster runs discovery rounds to find new natural resources.

Existing resources remain untouched and do not influence these discoveries.

If you have an unused natural resource, use it to build a new corporations.
It will generate more profits for your country.

How often are "discovery rounds"

In my experience they only happen when the GMs / Andy feel like the worlds need more resources. If there is a regular pattern to it, I've never noticed it.

Indeed, we did not run discovery for some time.

the reason is that there are huge numbers of unused natural resources in many countries in all worlds.

there are many countries with more than 100 unused resources.

It might be considered expensive to purchase such countries but there is also the possibility to conqure such countries.

countries with many natural resources can become very profitable.
