Weapon and Ammo upgrades

There was a thread on this but I can't find it

With the weapon and ammo upgrades on a Wing that has 40 Precision Bombers and 130 Stealth bombers would it require (40+130=170) upgrades (one for each unit) or 2 upgrades (one for each type)

Same for the weapons, 4,200 precision bombs and 15,600 Laser guided bombs. So 20,000 upgrades or 2?

I found an old thread re: upgrading and it mentioned manually upgrading. It that still possible? if so how?

Looks like one per weapon, piece of equipment in the unit. Each upgrade only upgrades the piece one quality point as well.

I think you have it. Although, it is possible to do 2 upgrades per game month. So, 20,000 ammo will consume 40,000 upgrades a month, if you set to auto-upgrade.
