How long for unit weapon composition to change?

I set up some units but I wanted to change the composition of the various weapons to something quite different from the default. I set up the unit as the default, and then went in and changes the weapon and ammo targets.

Is there a period of time this takes to accomplish? for example, I bumped up the number of transport planes in my air transport units to just a few planes higher. I have plenty in stock. It's been almost a real life day and I figured it would be quicker to change if I have plenty of both air/ground supply units, weapons/ammo in reserve, and all the affected units are grounded in my country.

Am I doing something wrong or am I just being impatient.

Are your units far from their base?

Do you have supply units? Are they working? Sometimes they don't for a bit.

Everything is at home, fully supplied, ive seen my supply units drop off fuel/maint before so i know those are working at least.

If it's not a garrison, you disband and remake the unit. Done. If it is a garrison, you need sufficient supply units.

Especially countries with a lot of population need many supply units if they have many garrisons.
I am currently looking into such countries and see that unused supply and air transport units can have negative numbers of supplies.

If not at war, much of the resupply happens in the regular processing.
some units are only resupplied when called for action.

It can be confusing.

"some units are only resupplied when called for action. " I think this is the case yeah. I started a war with a c1, and as soon as I used one of the effected units, they then swapped over to the new template I had designed. Thanks andy

the reason it is done in this way is that we have a huge number of units and garrisons and supplying all of them by supply units would be a killer even for the current, new generation, very powerful servers we have.

so we resupply most, when not at war, during the month run and without moving the supply units.

once you touch any of them to do a job, they are immediately resupplied and kept supplied by use of your supply units.
