Am I going to hit a limit within my own country where the population can't grow any further and I will need to take over or buy another country? Otherwise (other than for fun I guess) why would I want to take over another country that is a starting country with low population, low corp values etc? |

Yes there is a point where your main cannot grow any further in population. |

Around 80 million people it becomes difficult to keep the population increasing (though there are loopholish ways of getting around this) |

One built into the health index. Once you hit 80 million, your health index needs to be so high to prevent population loss that it basically becomes untenable to support it. Some people buy population up to 100 million or more, then just transfer new population in via disaster teams whenever they get hit by an earthquake to keep the population that high |

The only way to go over 120M is with disaster teams. You can transfer within your empire up to 100M and you can buy pop up to 120M.
80-90M is a good healthy number depending on your health index. |
