You can only drop special forces and RDUs behind enemy lines. The RDUs can build an airport after 24 real hours, then you can drop in the other stuff.

Greetings Tom Willard, the game is not allowing me to conduct an airdrop. I get to the airdrop page and can read the following information -
"Airdrop Air Base Construction Unit
You can Airdrop Landing Forces in other countries.
The airdrop is performed by your Air Transport Units.

Because your forces are parachuted, there is no need for a remote Airport.
Airbase Construction Units will create an airstrip at the position they are dropped.
When the airstrip is finished you can airlift Division, Battalions and Wings.

Boarding
Escondido will board at Kingman Military Airport in the country CHAIN GANG. Escondido is 15.69km from the airport.

Pick Drop Zone
Drop Escondido in The Republic of Pergo lin (enemy) "

However when i select the "Schedule airdrop now" link at the bottom of the page i get a pop up message that tells me - "Please click on the map to select a Drop Zone." However the only map showing is the map of my own country, and i have not been able to make a map of the other country appear. The world this is happening on is Little Upsilon and my country is CHAIN GANG. I am at war with the C3 country of The Republic of Pergo lin . Thanks for your help and your consideration in this matter.

It takes 24 RL hours to build an airport--is the airport actually built yet?

no there is no airport in the enemy's country and the game is still no allowing me to make the air drop as i am not able to click on the map of the enemy's country so i keep getting the pop up that tells me -"Please click on the map to select a Drop Zone." But if i click on the map that is showing which is the map of my country it tells me i am not allowed to air drop in my own country. Nute

I have found a solution to this problem > i declared war on a second C3 and now when i ordered the air drops there was a drop down menu showing the two countries i am at war with. so i selected the one and it loaded the map of that country. I was then able to click on the map to select a Drop Zone, and now my troops are on the way. Thanks Mr. Keith Allaire for your help.

C-130 rolling down the strip
64 troopers gonna take a little trip
Mission top secret, destination unknown
And they don't give a hoot if they ever come home
Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door
Jump right out and count to four
If that main don't open wide
I've got a reserve by my side
And if that one should fail me too
Here is all that I should do
Roll over get up and run off the DZ
Cause never in HELL will ya' bury me

Nute Gunray does one last check of his parachute.
Jumpmaster said now don't you know,
Stand up trooper, it's time to go.
Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door,
Jump right out and count to four.
As I floated to the ground,
I began to look around.
Lights were shining up at me,
Where, oh, where could I be?
Jumpmaster, he had missed his spot,
This LZ was mighty hot.

I'm having an annoying problem where my Air Transport Units are staying "stationed" in enemy countries after dropping off a unit. This is a problem because they never get resupplied so they run out of fuel and wont return back to my country. I also cant dismatle them since they are in another country.

Nute, LOL at your poem. Being an Army vet, have heard the first half of it before. I wasn't airborne, but in basic they had us sing a cadence:
"I wanna be an airborne ranger, I wanna live a life of danger..."
The rest of it isn't suitable for family entertainment. Brought back some memories, my friend. Thanks, JMR32.

Tanis,

I have had the same problem with transport units remaining stationed after the operation has finished. Does anyone have a solution for getting the units back home.

Same thing here to. Everthing was working fine until it was time to move the land forces. When I check the log says its flying between newly built airport and new depot. But wont come back to my country to pick up land forces. Not sure what to do. Game Master needs to fix it or post news on how to use air transport units. Maybe add a command that would call units back to main base or something.

Its working I have one air transport unit moving the land forces and the other moving the air wing. I guess when the air transport unit is done with the air droppings it stations its self at the newly built depot/airport and waits for more orders. I will leave another update after units have been fully moved.

If someone eles has anything to add please do so.

I think you need to also airdrop in supply units to keep your land forces and air wing supplied with fuel, etc. Not sure though, I am still trying to master the whole air drop thing too.
