I know I've seen such a table' perhaps when some good soul posted it in the forums. But I don't see it on the forums, the documentation, the wikia, the church, the prayer book, or my fed's forum.

Also, I've seen a few mentions of automatic buying of ammunition. I don't see a setting for that on my country's automation page, unless it falls under "Automatic placing orders for products that your country needs." Where is that set?

I think you can't stop automatic buying of ammo. Its ment to cripple the economies of militaristic noobs I guess.

It depends on whether you're talking about the Defense Index or the Defensive FORCE index. I wish the game would change the name of one of them, they confuse a mess of people. Your DFI will increase by 1.39 for each interceptor wing you deploy and 0.86 for each heli wing. To see what each unit adds to the DFI go to your deployed units, and the number is what it adds to the DFI. Your Defense Index will go up whether you field them or not. Your DFI will also go up if you DON'T deploy them, but it seems to me to be a negligible amount. So if it's the DFI you're talking about there's your numbers. That's full 400 weapon, 12,000 missile units. It will be less if you only deploy partials.

A wing is a pre-defined number of, say, interceptors? Since I'm not using the weapons anytime soon, I've just been buying them and forgetting them. Based on what you're saying, I guess I need to learn more about the military just to go up in level. It may well be I've already bought far more weapons than I need for Level 2 or 3.

So is there anywhere in the documentation that hand-holds through defining "wings" and deploying them?

What would really help is if the documentation had a search function, so I could find the answer to stupid questions like how to buy and use supply units without flooding the forum.

DVD, i hope you look at this it is kinda made for my situation but heres what i have if your not trying to defend your country, just lvl the defense.
as JMR said "Your DFI will increase by 1.39 for each interceptor wing you deploy and 0.86 for each heli wing."
well here is a little raw data for you.

Defense Force Index solution (trying to plan how to get to lvl 3 from lvl 1)

need 63 interceptor wings (to gain 87 points)
Interceptors = 334.83M
Inter Missiles = 12.75M

400 int = 133,932,000,000
12k mis = 153,000,000,000
1 wing = 286,932,000,000

63 wings =18,076,716,000,000

need 102 Heli wings (for 87 points)
Helecopters = 220M
heli missiles = 14.60M

400 heli = 88,000,000,000
12k miss = 175,200,000,000
1 wing = 263,200,000,000

102 wings= 26,846,400,000,000

As you can see it is cheaper to buy interceptor than helis.

However if your trying to defend your country, i would ignore this, i plan to keep my lead in secured so i really dont need any def.

Hope i gave you more info than you wanted =-)

You gave ME enough info. Never bothered to sit down and calculate the full cost of all that weaponry. Wow. Too bad I'm at 4 now. Of course the costs will change with market values, but that's still an eye opener.

Dvd, somewhere in the documentation they do list how many people are needed for each weapon type, but I just can't remember where it is. I'm thinking under the war engine section, but not sure.

To deploy them, go to "war" at the top left of your country page, choose "military", choose "setup new units". When you get to that page just check the Def. Int. Wing. If you're building all 4 of your wings at the same time you can put 4 in the box at the bottom right. Then click next. And continue on until the map pops up asking you where you want to put them. I usually just hit "pick from list", it's easier for me.

Zemon, no disrespect intended. I figured from your original post that it was a hypothetical situation and treated it that way, but seemed that I hit a nerve with some folks and the best way to defuse the situation was by saying what I did.

From reading your questions and posts I have no doubt you've got a couple of gray cells floating around up there, and if you're super anal I hate to think what I am!

I'm pretty swift with math myself. Been working on calculations to see just exactly what % of people retire each game month and how many move from each age bracket up so I can better manage my education priorities. You would think that, since there are 5 years in each age group, the % of change would be 20%, adjusted by the death rate, but it hasn't been working out so far. I know that the corps hire the "young bucks", same with the military, trying to factor that into things also. Really it doesn't matter in the game scheme, but it's fun to play with.

Again, sorry if I got under your skin. Geez..., must be my day! Had to eat dirt and apologize to my girlfriend over something stupid, and been getting chomped on all over the forum! Better just go to bed and try again tomorrow. Have a good one!
