Poll Idea 06: Corporation Naming Standards (White Giant)

New corporations are named by the game in this format:

As a CEO, it's very handy to be able to see at a glance all of one's corporations inside a given country.

Many CEOs with a lot of corporations have adopted a naming convention that sorts all of their corporations together. They use this format:

Example: Ethiopian Enterprises uses a prefix of ET.

So, a corporation that produces coffee would be named like this:

ET_Coffee_01

or

ET_Coffee_Harar

I propose that each CEO can define a prefix for its corporations. Ideally, that prefix would be unique across all CEOs.

In addition, CEOs and Countries can check a box that determines whether a new corporation is named in _ order or _ order.

And, at a minimum, put the Rename Corporation action as a link at the top of the corporation page, instead of just in the button bars. The button bars are the last thing to load on the corporation page, and on a slow connection, it takes a long time to rename your corporations.

There is a small hyperlink near the top of the corporations page David, its just under the first table of information at the top.

I looked at that list of links a bazillion times and never saw it!

Still want to have the naming convention, though!

My bad, had "rename corporation" on the brain, as I had just renamed all my CEO's corporations.

The command I meant was the "Move Corporation" command, which only appears in the button-bar at the top of the page, instead of as a simple link. The button bar is the last thing on the page to load.

I would agree to the prefix part I use my country's name and then the type of Corp at the end... That way ppl in my Common Market know they are buying/sell from/to me... I would like to have the pre-set option... I also use WP but am not agreeing to the "its my prefix get your own" part of this... I only use the WP when I already have a corp of the same type then I use all first letters...

West Port Off Sore Drilling = West Port Oil :D
West Port Contractors = West Port Construction :D
West Port Office Personnel = West Post Services :D

Yes, I have started to standardise mine, I have 2 enterprises, so a Corp owned by Corperate Supply in West Haven manufacturing Electric Power would be CS Electric Power WH.
Controlled by first, Manufactures second, located last

At least have the option to name the corp at the time of building it! This would reduce the need for some clicks.

And a little note when it opens would be nice. CEO's get a note when a corporate purchase goes thru, why not a note when a new one opens for business.
