it seems to me, that perhaps the car corporations should use glass as a supply, i mean it would make sense right?

Real glass shatters and severely injures passengers. Almost all automotive windows made after the 1920s are composite. Most windscreens and motorcycle windshields are made out of plastic only (PMMA).

Glass is in household products, household products are in services. If glass is evenly distributed between all service contracts it works out to 1.9 kilos of glass per service. If we assume some services require no glass then the services car companies buy can have a little more.

In this case the service is the installation of the windows.
