Combat Air Patrol
If this was implemented presidents could order air force attack wings or aircraft carriers to conduct combat air patrol (CAP). When an enemy air wing bombs a target the CAP wing would counter attack the enemy. The bombing raid would proceed as normal. The counter attack would be a second and separate battle.

Air Superiority Strike
Presidents would be able to order air force attack and bombing Wings to attack the defenders of offensive military airport or base following an attack from that airport or base. The same order could be given to land based arms.

Retaliatory Attack
A retaliatory attack would be conducted against an enemy capitol or largest undamaged city. Retaliation could be carried by attack and bombing wings, land bases arms, or fleet command ships.

Or how about we just automate the entire war engine.

You can do this already manually. The game has enough automation that tries to replace/hamper skill. This suggestion does the same.

No. Currently offensive forces never fight until you log in and make them fight. This way offensive aircraft can be deploy. It wouldn't take more or less skill than deploying an interceptor wing.

The suggestion might make it harder to take some countries. On the other hand it would allow countries to buy more offensive weapons. That makes more weapons available.

This war engine does not require skill. Automated or manual does not change that. Either way most of the effort is buying the weapons.

How about losing the entire idiotic notion of Offensive and Defensive forces?

Create units and assign them to bases with the option to deploy to targets to defend. So forget the absurd garrison system, as well.

yup...they really ought to lose the Offensive and Defensive markers and just merge everything into one. No heavy or light tanks, just tanks. No offensive aa missile batteries or their defensive equalivalents, just AA missile batteries.
