Why each country can setup corporations to extract any raw material? Country specific resource maybe could make trading and alliance work better.

There was a fairly extensive discussion about all of this before and some public votes, but those weren't thoroughly searched. It seems like it had a lot of momentum and interest before, but since then other "major" changes have probably pushed it near the bottom of the list.

But, yes, part of the discussion was that it seemed unreasonable for every country to produce every product in unlimited quantities. The map actually was being modified at around the same time, and the yellow areas were added to represent something like "mountainous regions".
